Chapter 1
Rain...All around her was the cold rain of the winter, lashing her face in stinging blows that made her close her eyes to keep it out of them. She looked up at the sky, pulling her goggles over her face so she could see clearly. Tears, however, blurred her normally sharp vision, making the girl unable to see, "Ryko, love? Are you there Ryko?"Came her voice, soft and afraid, like chimes, nearly drowned by the roar of the hurricane winds. She didn't want to go home. Home was where everyone was saying both she and Ryko had died. But that was impossible! She was standing here now, wasn't she? She was alive and well, right?
But then.....why couldn't Ayako see her? Why did mother and father weep so? Why was Lyna so scared? She buried her head in her hands, running...just running. Her black hair streamed out behind her, silver highlights dampened to a dull gray by the rain, her black outfit clung to her form as she continued to run, away from life, away from home....away from the truth. She collapsed on a park bench, "No....no...I'm not dead....neither is Ryko....he's just gone...off on a trip..."She tried to convince herself that was true, curling up tightly on the bench. Slowly, with a tree hiding her from ther rain's onslaught, Tasuya fell asleep to the rythem of rain on the sidewalk.
When she awoke, all she could see was blood red hair and beautiful golden topaz eyes,
"Ryko?"The creature above her smiled and shook its head, "No, Tasuya. I am an Angel. You must come with me. There is no reason for a dead to stay here." Tasuya sat up, throwing a wild punch at the angel, her own tattered black wings shifting in anger,
"DAMN YOU! I'M NOT DEAD! SHUT UP! SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP!"She screamed, screwing up her eyes tightly, refusing to believe what the angel was saying,
"What have you done with Ryko? WHERE HAVE YOU TAKEN MY BELOVED!?"
She snarled, thrusting her fist at the angel's jaw, making contact, and hearing the satisfactory crunch that told her she had broken it. The angel looked at her, a sad look,
"I will come back in a month, Tasuya, maybe you'll accept your own death by then."
Tasuya broke down and cried in front of the angel,
"Why me? Why Ryko? We never did anything wrong! Why did HE decide to kill us? We followed him faithfully? What has happened to Ryko, my love, where is he?"
The brilliant entity looked at the girl, pity in his emerald orbs,
"He did not wish you and Ryko to die, Tasuya Silverheart. You were innocents. You were happy. You served him properly, without overdoing it or asking anything in return other than true happiness, however the black side of Makute, Zanaru, wanted you dead. He did not like the way you and Ryko were, so he pulled you apart, destroying your marriage with him, causing him to be killed in an accident...and you to slit your throat, committing suicide, in your grief over your love. Your soul is still pure, and so was his. He awaits you in The Kingdom, Tasuya. Will you come with me?"
Tasuya looked at the angel,
"I will."
She took his hand and flew with him, into the clouds and to the Gates of Makute's Kingdom, where she was greeted by the familiar smell of cinnamon and roses, and where a shadowed figure looked at her smiling,
"Welcome Home, Tasuya"
Lyna Tasuya Silverwings shot up from her bed, her body drenched in a heavy sweat. She looked around, her amber orbs wary and a small bit afraid. She did not like the dreams he had been tormenting her for the last year, not in the least. It scared her somewhat that these dreams included her mother and father, Ryko and Tasuya Silverwings. They had died a few years after Lyna was born, her father in an accident and her mother following soon after by taking her own life. It bothered the 16 year old, because at age four, she had wandered into the bathroom to see...well, you get the point. She got up out of bed, and headded towards the bathroom, her long, blood-colored hair falling about her waist in soft waves that glinted like fire in the sparse lighting of the room, because of blond highlights that she had put in a year ago. She splashed water on her golden skin, trying to wash off the sweat that was dauntingly cold.
"Lyna! Aren't you out of bed yet?"
Lyna growled softly, hearing her roomate just outside her half of the room,
"LEAVE ME ALONE, RYKA! I'M GETTING UP!"She sighed heavily, brushing out her long hair. Opening the door, she followed the hyperactive werewolf towards the door to the school building,
"I love your shirt! It goes well wit-"
"Ryka, shut up. I could care less. I want to be LEFT ALONE. Okay? You may be my roomate, but I do not enjoy being BADGERED by people."Lyna snarled coldly. A flame sprang up, encasing her hand, and threatning the wolf. Ryka sighed, tossing her ebony hair over her shoulder and walking off. Lyna could see the paw that formed, as if in threat unto her. She laughed, softly, 'Yeah right. I could just burn you do a crisp, stupid Were.'
"Lyna, It'll be alright. I'll always be-" A young Lyna covered her ears, turning away from Tasuya and Ryko, shaking her head,
"SHUT UP! YOU'RE LYING! YOU BOTH ALREADY DIED WHEN I NEEDED YOU THE MOST! Don't tell me that. You've already broken that promise." Tasuya looked at her daughter, her bright golden eyes sad and apologetic,
"Lyna....I'm sorry. We both are. We only wish that we were there for you right now. But all we can do is wait." Lyna looked at her parents, as if for the first time. Tasuya, with her flowing black, silver-highlighted hair, and skin as pale as the moon. Her piercing eyes were the same gold as Lyna's, and on her forehead rested a pair of blue, circular, Goggle-like lenses. Her father....Oh her father was the image of a full grown male phoenix. Golden skin as pure as honey, eyes of the most fiery orange that sparkled with mischief, and hair of the most pure blood red, streaked with gentle gold, exactly like Lyna's.
"I'm sorry..."His voice was rich...gentle, but strong,
"My Lyna....Lyna! LYNA..."
"LYNA TASUYA SILVERWINGS! WAKE UP!" Lyna shot up just as a ruler slammed down right where her head had been resting not a moment before, her orbs wide in shock,
"WHAT IN THE NAME OF-" She noticed her teacher looming above her desk, an ominous figure of doom that could not be evaded. Her blue eyes were formed into the most malicious of glares,
"Lyna Tasuya Silverwings, It is your duty as a student here at Mazari Academy to STUDY so you can control your abilities and succesfully inherit the Shatyurin Clan, am I correct?" The young Phoenix wanted to burn her on the spot. The choice of it was OH so tempting, and right there too,
"Yes, Ms. Ayrisha, but I do not believe that it qualifies you to attempt to hit me with a stick in order to..."She set the ruler on fire, a smirk resting on her impassive face,
"attempt to make me listen? A language such as this one are impartial to the needs I have to take over my Clan
