Forbidden Fruit
Like Eve, in innocence and naivete
I believed it would be easy.
Right and wrong
Black and white
So simple to see the truth.
Then along you came
And like a serpent, twined around my mind.
Introducing shades of grey
Betwixt my clear cut lines.
Accepting the hand you offered
On the behalf of fate.
Like a good girl I followed
To a place I should never have been.
There it beckoned before my eyes
In glistening, glimmering glory.
Tentatively I touched it
Seduced by such an offering
I plucked it and of it ate.
And now I shall always wonder
How such a generous gift
Could be called a Forbidden Fruit.
Author's Note: Take this poem however you like but I'm not sure if anyone will actually understand the real meaning it has when I wrote it. It's not actually meant to be religious though some of the wording may suggest so. If you want to know why I wrote it, leave your email, or email me or whatever.
