Omission is Betrayal

Do you think
we could have
Been the same?
IfI didn’t know
the truth behind
Your persona?

Everything you told
Me was a lie
Hidden by the truth
hidden by the mystery

Of You.

When you compromised
With me
About your past
I readily accepted

I didn’t know
What was hidden
In those big brown boxes
Marked: Camping Gear

I didn’t know the truth
Would tear me apart
As it did.

I wasn’t as strong
as I thought I was.

And that’s my fault.

But—

Whose fault is it, really?
That they hid there life away?
I showed you all my secrets
And you only showed
Me a few of yours.

Did you now trust me?
Did you not think
That I could handle the truth?

Because I assure you,
I can.

Why did you not have
Faith in me?

"I am strong,” I said.
