HIM, Her, and Us

The blood is dripping, dripping, dripping

flowing, gushing out

Dead, cold, and lifeless

Eyes dull and sightless

Face horrified, blitheless

And the spirit is about.

-

Her spirit floating, floating, floating

fleeing, sent away

Taken by the Great Beyond

Accepted in eternal bond

Now for me a new day dawn’d

Her body near doth lay.

-

Body haunting, haunting, haunting

staring, glares at me

Mourns the separation

Hates the deprivation

Loathes my adulation

Hence glad shall I be.

-

Glee spreading, spreading, spreading

soaring, rising high

Taking control

Fueled by coal

Returning me whole

Or so thought I.

-

Why pain stabbing, stabbing, stabbing

grabbing, pulling, dark?

She is gone from me

Why not let me be?

Can she not see

We are better now apart?

-

Mind telling, telling, telling

bidding, urging light

My heart sequestered

My soul festered

My furtive gesture

I bring the gleaming night.

-

The blood is staining, staining, staining

flooding, burning life

Life unsustaining

Sacred spirit waning

Fading forces draining

Why dost she give me strife?

-

Strife prodding, prodding, prodding

ripping, tearing in twain

I cut her out

Wrist a spout

Why now doubt?

Why guilt and sin and pain?

-

Always nagging, nagging, nagging

preaching, scolding us

She evil bans.

She hatred cans.

HIS groping hands

She casts away suspicious.

-

Why tearing, tearing, tearing

blurring, burning eyes?

I must endure

But am I sure

I can be without her?

So our soul together dies?

-

Before hurting, hurting, hurting

dividing, ripped in two

“We’ll be better off together—”

“No, never, never better

Keeping us this mournful tether.

I must be made anew.”

-

And so sawing, sawing, sawing

cutting, digging wrist

Why remain?

She should be slain

What is her bane?

My wrenching guts, they twist.

-

My wrist weeping, weeping, weeping

sobbing, dripping red

Both of us will die

One above will fly

One below will cry

Now we as one hath bled.

-

Now fading, fading, fading

black’ning, dark’ning dawn

Escape our dead life…

HE killed us in his blithe!

HE drove us to this strife!

To hate our lives now gone…
