A/N: this script was written based on the story written by my loving and dear friend/author (Derek Sampson) Please give his story a good read/review, he's a wonderful writer with lots of potential and I'm hoping to work this script based on his story into a wonderful short film.

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD – MORNING

Empty suburban neighborhood street lined with upscale homes with manicured lawns.

SEAN, late teens, dressed in baggy jeans and a small vintage band t-shirt, pedals down the street on his bike, sweating. He checks his watch.

SEAN

Six.

Sean begins to pedal harder, while using his shirt to wipe sweat from his forehead.

EXT. SUBURBAN HOME – MORNING

A simple house with a porch stands in the neighborhood, with a FOR SALE sign on the front corner of the lawn.

INT. BEDROOM – MORNING

A bare room lined with cardboard boxes and packaging material, floor littered with stacks of clothing and books, the sun shines through a bare window. The only furniture in the room: an empty desk, nightstand, dresser, and an occupied bed.

Alarm clock RINGS to life.

ASHLEY, late teens, opens her eyes, sits up in bed. Dressed only in a tank top and shorts, she looks over at the clock on nightstand.

The clock face reads 6:10.

Ashley looks over at the picture frame holding a picture of her and SEAN. She was dressed in a sun dress and Sean in jeans and a button down shirt. Sean was hugging her as she made a goofy face.

Ashley sobs quietly as she pulls the picture frame into her lap. A TEAR falls onto the glass of the frame.

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBOORHOOD – MORNING

SEAN continues to pedal through the neighbor hood, breathing heavy.

SEAN

Come on, Sean, you can do this. Just a bit further.

Sean looks down at his watch.

SEAN

Damn. Six-fifteen.

Sean begins to pedal harder.

INT. BEDROOM / HALLWAY – MORNING

The room is now empty.

ASHLEY stands in the middle, dressed in jeans and a tank top, staring at her packed bags. She looks around her room empty room.

The phone RINGS.

Ashley runs down the hall.

ASHLEY

Sean.

Ashley picks up the hall phone.

ASHLEY

Hello?

DAD (V.O.)

I’ve got it Ash.

ASHLEY

Okay Dad.

Ashley walks back to her room. She reaches into her back pocket and pulls out a tattered wallet sized photograph of Sean and sits down on her stuffed bags.

She looks down at her watch.

ASHLEY

Six-twenty-two…He’s not coming.

Ashley starts to CRY.

INT. KITCHEN – MORNING

The phone RINGS.

DAD, mid forties, answers the phone hanging on the bare kitchen wall.

ASHLEY (V.O.)

Hello?

DAD

I’ve got it Ash.

ASHLEY (V.O)

Okay Dad.

DAD

Yes, Mister Hughes?

(pauses)

Really sir?

(pauses)

No sir, that’s great, bye sir.

Dad hangs up the phone. He smiles. And begins to walk towards Ashley’s room.

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD – MORNING

SEAN pedals harder.

He looks at his watch; pained expression on his face.

SEAN

(breathlessly)

Ash.

Sean closes his eyes.

INT. BEDROOM / HALLWAY – MORNING

ASHLEY sits alone in the room on her pile of bags.

FOOTSTEPS are heard outside the door, then a KNOCK.

Ashley wipes her eyes and sniffles.

ASHLEY

I’m ready.

DAD enters the room.

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD – MORNING

SEAN looks ahead and smiles.

SEAN

Three more blocks.

Sean pedals harder.

SEAN (cont’d)

Just three more blocks, you can do it Sean.

INT. BEDROOM – MORNING

DAD looks down at Ashley.

DAD

That was Mister Hughes on the phone.

ASHLEY looks up.

ASHLEY

What did he want?

DAD

They found someone else

(pause)

For the job, sweetie. We’re staying here.

ASHLEY

We’re not moving?

Ashley jumps to her feet and hugs Dad.

Dad leaves the room.

Ashley runs down the hall to the phone on the floor and quickly dials.

She listens to the phone ring.

She smiles.

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD – MORNING

SEAN pedals harder.

A cell phone RINGS.

Sean reaches into his pocket and looks at the screen. It reads: ASH (heart)

Tires SCREECH.

Sean looks up.

A speeding car continues through the intersection and hits Sean on the right side as he drops the cell phone.

Sean’s body is thrown several yards. He is motionless and BLEEDING.

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD – AFTERNOON (FLASHBACK)

ASHLEY AND SEAN walk down the sidewalk holding hands.

They stop in front of Ashley’s house and gently kiss. Ashley begins to walk up the steps, slowly letting go of Sean’s hand.

Ashley pulls Sean close again and kisses him. They break apart and stare intently at each other before Sean slips away slowly.

INT. HALLWAY – MORNING

ASHLEY sits on the floor, the phone receiver to her ear.

She listens to the phone RING.

She smiles.

The phone RINGS again.

SEAN (V.O.)

Hi, you’ve reached Sean’s cell, leave a message.

ASHLEY

(quickly with excitement)

Hey babe, it’s me, Ash, good news I’m not moving. I hope you’re still coming over ‘cause I can’t wait to see you. Gosh, I’m so happy right now. I love you, see you soon.

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBOR HOOD – MORNING

Crowded street, pieces of SEAN’s bike are littered across the pavement.

The cell phone lies a few feet from Sean. It stops ringing and beeps once. On the screen flashes: ONE NEW VOICEMAIL.

THE END.
