A Scare

Drowning in this lugubrious state,
For fear and hunger subjugate.

Purple eye of timorous hue
And gaping wounds of feral blue.

A clotted heart a quivering,
Devoured flesh still slithering.

These are the things he showed to me
To make me cry most fitfully.

But once I felt this frenzied rush
I realized, it’s balderdash.

And as he laughed, I lost my plight
I jumped on him and took a bite.

He bled there with his shoulders bare,
Never to give me another scare.
