She sat there, legs dangling off the dock as a soft breeze blew by, blowing her cropped golden curls everywhere, some of the strands whipping her in the face. Scooting a bit further so her toes barley scratched the lakes surface, she leaned back, blue eyes taking in the sight of the darkening sky.
A shiver ran through her thin frame as she suddenly felt the temperature drop a few degrees and she now regretted her decision to storm out of the house without a jacket. If she hadn't of been so angry at her parents, she probably would of thought to grab a jacket... but if she hadn't of gotten angry with them, then she wouldn't be out here freezing her bum off.
Taking a deep breath, she plunged into the lake, a loud shriek erupting from the pale girl when she felt how cold the water actually was. Shivering as she stood up since she was not in a deep part of the lake, she yanked the now soaked white t-shirt from her body and threw it onto the dock, leaving her in just her cut offs and blue sports bra.
Sinking back into the water, she was well aware of how freezing the water was, but she just couldn't bring herself to leave. Luci was positive that anyone who happened to be taking an evening stroll probably thought she was a bloody loon. She didn't have to worry about anyone she knew finding her though.
It wasn't like she knew anyone there, besides her family and they surely wouldn't come looking for her.
Her parents had been the ones who had made her move here. She never wanted to. Why would she want to leave when she had someone she loved who loved her back?
Luci couldn't fathom why it was so wrong. Yes, the person she loved was a girl, but Violet was such a good person and treated her wonderfully. If the person your child is in a relationship treats him or her right, shouldn't that make you happy?
Not her parents. This only enraged them and she knew the only way she could make them happy was by dating a boy; something that she could never do. Her parents had dragged her out here with one purpose and one purpose only: to separate her and Violet and by doing that they could somehow cure her of her gayness.
That wasn't how it worked and she would never change. She simply wasn't attracted to boys in that way and no matter how hard her parents tried, they would never succeed in making her the way they wanted her to be.
Making sure to take another deep breath, she ducked under the water, making sure not to come up for air until the very last second. Emerging from the water, she pushed her now wet and tangled blond hair from her face as she tipped her head upwards, a slight smile forming on her slightly chapped lips when she noticed the sky had darkened even more.
Violet loved the night. If she didn't need sleep, she would of been considered nocturnal. Sometimes Luci would joke with her and call her a vampire, these moments quickly turning frightening when Violet decided to take her words literally and bite her.
Though... there was something erotic about being bitten, even if it did hurt like hell, but pain was pleasure right?
Stifling a sob she dunked her head in the water again, this causing all thoughts of Violet to quickly fly out of her mind as her brain concentrated on the oxygen she was quickly losing. Making sure to emerge slowly from the water this time, her mind slowly started to drift to thoughts of Violet once all the oxygen she had lost was returned.
She missed Violet so much. Sometimes it hurt to even think about her and she was well aware of how cliché that sounded, but whoever had said that knew what they were talking about.
It did hurt. So very much.
She was sixteen when she met Violet, or rather when she first started talking to her. Gradually, the friendship turned into a relationship -not that she minded because she, like Violet, already knew she was gay even though she wasn't out yet- and soon that relationship turned into a ten month romance.
Violet had spent the night at her house and she was pretty sure she had locked the door at the time. The raven haired girl had done that oh-so good thing with her tongue and Luci had automatically turned into mush after she had done that.
She repeated this action quite a few times and just as a muffled cry of "Violet" escaped her swollen lips, her mother walked into the room to announce that breakfast was ready.
Her mother definitely got the surprise of her life.
Luci had always planned on telling her parents she was gay. She really had, but had put it off because she knew her parents wouldn't be as accepting as Violet's mother had.
... but what she had actually been expecting was so small compared to what had really happened.
Her mother stood there dumbfounded for a few moments, before she screamed for her father, who's face turned an interesting shade of angry purple the moment he saw what had made her mother so upset.
After screaming at Violet to get out of the house and somehow convincing her girlfriend that she would be fine, she left, her father's rage reaching the breaking point. He grabbed her off the bed and slapped her straight across the face, the force of the slap sending her flying to her floor.
Telling her she was an abomination and a freak, he stormed out of the room, her own mother not even bothering to help her off of the floor or to see if she was all right.
Luci figured that was the highest peak her father's anger could reach. A month later when her father announced they were leaving, she was proved wrong. Her grandfather who owned a cabin by a lake upstate in another state, had offered to let them have the place.
He seemed happy to do so after he discovered her little sin and said he would be happy to help.
She hadn't been allowed to see Violet in the past month and trying to sneak out and tell her the news was hard. Their reunion and goodbye was short and painful, but after promising she would e-mail her, Violet sent her off and that was the second to last time she saw her.
Violet surprised her the day she moved. She showed up and even if she didn't get to speak to her while she was quickly shoved inside the car, she still got to see her one last time.
Two weeks had passed since she had moved up here and just tonight she had gotten into another fight with her parents about Violet and her sexuality.
Glancing back up at the sky, it appeared that quite an amount of time had passed since she started thinking about Violet, because now the sky was pitch black, with the exception of the moon and a few stars in the sky.
"Luci, are you crazy?!" exclaimed a voice from the dock.
Flinching, she slowly turned around to see her older brother Devon standing on the dock, her now slightly dry shirt in his hand. "Sorry, Devon the water just looked so pretty.." she murmured lamely as she climbed out of the lake, regretting her decision the moment the cold air hit her chilled body.
"Yeah, well I hope you remember that tomorrow when your as sick as a dog." the twenty year old, who still lived with his parents, scolded as he handed Luci her shirt.
Paying her brother's tone no mine, she tugged the shirt back over her head, casting one last longing glance at the lake, before she was led inside.
The house was quiet. This told her that her parents were asleep or out.
She figured they were asleep, because she couldn't remember the last time her parents went anywhere together. Muttering a goodnight to her brother, she climbed up the stairs, undressing once she was inside the bathroom, the door locked.
Luci didn't spend a very long time in the bath, feeling better, but still freezing as she walked in her room, clad in only a t-shirt and boxers that belonged to her brother. Turning on her computer, she was quick to check into her e-mail, a faint smile ghosting over her lips when she saw she had an e-mail from
Aloha Lu,
How are you doing? Is it really as nice up there as they say it is? I hope your keeping friendly. How else can you expect to meet new people?
...I went out last night. Lauren and Megan forced me to go to a club with them. Don't worry though. I didn't bite anyone. I save that for you. XD Well please respond back quickly. I miss you.
Love, Vi
She and Violet had agreed to break up that night she snuck out to see her. With her leaving and being in an entirely different state, it just wouldn't work.
Hiya Vi. It’s great that you’re getting out there and don’t be mean! I’m always a friendly person! How can you say something like that? pouts
I know this might seem short, but I’m ending it here, because the longer I keep typing, the more I miss you. I love you Vi and wish I was back there.
-Lu
Sniffling as she shut off her computer, she climbed into bed, knowing that soon Violet might possibly get another girlfriend and when that day came she didn’t know what she would do.
