In an age when parents don’t communicate

In an era where “girlfriend” becomes literal, rather than the girl friend

In a generation where philosophy, music, arts, language are butchered daily by the leader of our country

Don’t we have enough issues to deal with simply growing up?

When did “girlfriend” come to solely mean a female lover?

Don’t we have enough to worry about, without mislabels?

When did sexual identity become the method by which we distinguish ourselves?

Isn’t growing up difficult enough, without vernacular changing on a yearly, monthly, daily, hourly basis?

When did sexual identity become so ingrained in society that two friends, two roommates have their relationship warped into far more than is there?

Why is our society obsessed with the private lives of people who are not particularly interesting, but in fact suffer through what millions of other people just out of college suffer through?

Does anyone remember a time when friendships were just that, with no sexual overtones

Or is that a myth, ranking among Big Foot and a peaceful Christianity?

Remember the days when “girlfriend” meant just that: a girl who is a friend?

Have they gone the way of the dinosaurs, of disco

Something to be remembered on cable shows, special documentaries?

Remember the days when girlfriends looked out for one another?

In an age where “gay is the new black” of social structure, what happened to carefree teasing?

In an age where two people of the same gender are under scrutiny, trying to pinpoint all the ways their relationship could qualify as “gay”.

And through it all, most people say “so what”

“So what if so-and-so is gay”

Indeed: what business is it of ours?

If being gay is the sin it is portrayed as by Christians, then perhaps, it is time to re-examine the popular doctrine

In what belief system is being happy a sin?

When it is socially acceptable for children of gay or lesbian parents to hear “Oh, so you’re gay”

When one face says “yes, its ok to be gay” the other says “you will burn in Hell”, regardless of whether you believe in Hell in the first place.

When did we become such a double-standard country?

When did it matter if someone was gay, straight, bi, transgender?

Isn’t what we are taught starting in kindergarten that it isn’t what a person looks like, but their personality?

When did the Army care about your sex life?

What made it acceptable to discharge hard working soldiers on the basis of sexual orientation?

Oh no, someone is gay.

Get over it.

Just because you are the same gender, doesn’t mean gay people are going to swarm over you, hit on you, check you out, or whatever other fear you have.

They are gay, not indiscriminate lust beings who must have a piece of whatever ass they come across.

So long as it’s the right gender, of course.
