Chapter 3: Gossip
A couple weeks before the reunionJulianna Parker drove her car up to Margaret, better known as Maggie, Griffith’s apartment in Boston. Julianna was the road trip queen, and had offered to pick anyone up that was in her travel. And Maggie, 3 weeks later, took her up on that offer.
“So, Maggie, you little bugger, how’s life?” Julianna asked.
“Same as always. And you?”
“Nothing much. I have another book coming out this month.”
“Another book, and you’re still coming to the reunion!”
“Maggie, you know I wouldn’t miss for the world.”
Maggie looked at Julianna, and continued sarcastically, “So that time you blew us all off a couple years ago doesn’t count, right?”
“Give me a break! I was going to meet Michael Crawford, and you know how I get about him!”
Julianna, who was known for her eccentricity as well as her writing, had a crush on Michael Crawford when she was younger. And not a ‘I just say I have a crush on him so guys will stop leaving me alone’ crush. She was a fan-girl.
At that moment, Julianna let out an official fan-girl ‘squee!’. Maggie subsequently laughed her ass off.
“Well, I haven’t seen you since Madison’s wedding!” Maggie laughed.
“I know! Did you hear what happened to Madison’s husband and her little boy?”
“No. What happened?”
“He was fucking around with his sister!”
Maggie gasped. “Which one?”
“Madeline.”
“But….she was married, and was 10 years older than he was!”
“Even so, her husband got jealous, and murdered Madison’s son as revenge for his wife’s disloyalty!”
“But, what happened to Madison’s hubby?”
“She did what any other girl would do; she divorced the bastard. I don’t blame her. It’s his fault their son is dead. But I heard she’s now just dating casually. Anywho, we’ll hear the whole story by the reunion any ways; we’re picking her up in D.C., and Gracie in Charleston.”
