Your face remains

Casual

Relaxed

Calm

As you speak

A mask of vacant thoughts

A façade of indifference

But the signs are there

A lip trembling to smile

A twitch in your hands

A laugh veiled behind your eyes

And as you smile

Your smile of false apathy

And hidden love

I cannot help but think

Will this change us?

Your eyes hold on mine

Time passes between us

But it is unimaginable

Neither fast

Nor slow

Just there

An eternity

And I know

With great certainty

That everything will be different

But we’ll be the same

Unchanged

Unfazed

Unhurt

We’ll be just fine.
