surviving through the ages

your neck looks good slit
sinewy, & as i lay you out,
you spill gold dust from your mouth.
this was a fashionable murder.

after the fog, & after paris
tokyo, london, happened
i have followed you through the ages
knocking dreams from your head.

we were forced to play the parts
of Julius & Cleopatra till our bloods
ran cold with this redraw betrayal
and we ran out of things to sacrifice.

& your throat looks good cut
but it looks even better
finally closing up
from all the wounds i have heaped upon you.
