Chapter 1
A sound of police sirens rang out in the far off distance. Glory looked in the direction she thought it was coming from. She sighed. Why did I even catch myself? I should have just let myself fall. No one ever caught me before, and no one every will. That’s it!
Glory climbed off the railing of her apartment. She walked back inside the apartment. She looked around on her nightstand for a piece of paper and a pen. Luckily they were both there, she quickly scribbled down.
TO THE DECTIVES,
This is the last thing I’ll ever write. I should have told someone about it when it all started. My mother would still be with me and Abby, and my sister and her unborn child would still be alive. It’s all my fault and I can’t take the quilt any longer.
I end my life tonight over the ledge of the 18th story. Nothing will be there to break my fall, but then again nothing ever really has. I’ll give you a wish. I wish that your life wasn’t as bad as mine was. The years of abuse have token their toll on me. And they’re still taking it.
GLORY EVE GRANT
Glory signed her name then made her was to the roof. SHE gracefully climbed on the ledge then looked down. She was in a meadow, on she knew long ago. Back when it’s wasn’t so sweet to be there but it wasn’t so bitter either. Back to a time when real love was just starting to take a role in her life. A time when she had the love of another.
“GLORY.” THE VOICE OF HER LOVE CALLED.
Glory ran to meet him in a garden on love; where the flowers always seemed to be in bloom. She meet only a foot away from the one she loved. His sweet smile flew over glory like a heat wave. His perfect green eyes shimmered all the way down to her heart, making her slightly tremble.
He grabbed her in his big strong arms. She felt weak in the knees, up until then she thought nothing could ever be happy again because of what her fatherhad caused. She pressed her head into his shirt. “I love you nick.” She said strongly and clearly.
She pulled her head away from his chest and looked deep into his eyes. He looked back into his eyes, he was speechless. He’d never been in love like this before he wanted to return her words, but he was afraid to say even one of them. He began to feel weak. He finally smiled too. “I love you, too, glory.”
Her heart beat faster than it ever had. To love someone was powerful enough for her, but to have someone say it in return was greater than anything in the world. Her mother and father had loved her at one time for that she was certain and Abby did to, but things change too easily. She didn’t want this to ever change, she wanted nick to always be the one to say he loved and for him to be there with her always.
He loosened his grip on her and walked away. SHE LOOKED CONFUSED SHE NEVER WANTED HIM TO LET GO OF HER. She felt as though she might cry because of him letting her go so easily. “Do you not want me to be with you? Are you always going to let me go so easily?” She said with teary eyes.
Nick walked closer to her. “No it’s not that glory. It’s just that we can’t always be together like this. You know what I have to do on a daily basis. I love you and I never want to let you go for good. I just need you do something for me right now.”
She looked at him with joyful eyes. “What is it?”
“Do you trust me?” HE ASKED.
“Yes I do.” She replied.
HE SMILED, “THEN LET ME CAUGHT BEFORE YOU FALL. If you truly trust me then I’ll never ever let you fall from anything!”
GLORY LOOKED AT HIM. SHE NODDED HER HEAD THEN TURN AROUND. SHE TURNED AROUND ON THE LEDGE OF THE BUILDING. SHE SMILED, THEN LOOKED BACK A NICK. He laughed, “Hey, no peeking!” he said playfully. She giggled then turned her head back around.
She prepared herself for the fall. She began to fall slowly backwards off the ledge. She heard nick scream her, “Glory.” SomeONE grabbed her and pulled her in the opposite direction she was falling.
THE PERSON PULLED HER BACK ONTO THE ROOF AND SHE FELL ON TOP OF IT. THE PERSON GRABBED HER AND HELD HER IN Its IMBRACE. GLORY WAS SO CONFUSED. Wasn’t I JUST FALLING OFF THE LEGDE? WHY CAN’T PEOPLE JUST LET ME DIE IN Peace?
The person who held was older than her but not by much, They had black hair that was messy short. The person grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet.
She looked at this person who saved her when she didn’t want to be saved. He had green eyes, and looked like someone she knew, but she didn’t recognize him. He smiled. “I’m so glad you’re alright Glory.”
Then it hit her. “Nick?’
“yes.” He responded. Her heart felt like it was about to jump out of her chest, and her body felt like mush. He kissed her forehead. He smiled. “looks like I was just in time, but I guess I made a promise to never let you fall and I’m still keeping it.”
Glory was completely speechless and she was starting to feel breathless and lightheaded. He kissed her silent lips. He softly pulled back and looked into her eyes. “I KNOW WHY YOU LEFT. I ALSO KNOW YOU STILL LOVE YOU, AND I STILL LOVE YOU. AND WE’RE GOING TO PUT YOUR FATHER AWAY FOR EVERYTHING HE DID TO YOU, YOUR MOTHER, AND TO ABBY. HE WON’T SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY FOR A LONG TIME!”
