The Chicken Dance
I stand before you
With wretched awareness
In the span of a heartbeat
Desperate for approval from the hands I deplore
The cracked, prickly hands that I know I outshine
The envy stained hands that I crawl back to
Time and time again
My back cries a thousand sweaty tears
Anger pumps through my veins in a second’s eternity
And I contemplate walking away
Leaving all of this behind
Locked in some outlet beyond realm of rainbows
That houses the past in harmless state
And tames it, puts its malevolent ways
To better uses
But I don’t walk away
My lips move soundlessly, my eyes gibber senselessly
My logic falls silent, the market fails
My soul fetching rock bottom price
And I let you walk all over me
I do the chicken dance
