Chapter 1: Hate Me
She had one to the covers of her dark room, her black hair covering her tear-stained face. Blood trickling down the newly made wounds caused by her mother, her father, her sister. She closed her eyes tightly, trying to get control over her reeling mind. She couldn’t understand it. She just never could see why they all treated her the same. All of them almost, anyways. All but her older brother, Kenji. He was always there for her, he cared. Now, he wasn’t even able to talk to her. They’d forced him to go away for a while, to train. Very complicated and advanced training, but he’d be back soon.
“That was two months ago, he comes home tonight” she whispered as she stared longingly at the night sky. If I only I could be out there right now… she sighed, thinking to herself. Her name was Takai Naito, 16 years old, daughter of the ever-famous Ryuu Naito. The well known, Transylvanian Vampire clan leader, to others he was just some jerkass bastard of a father, ut one hell of an amazing leader!. Her name, she hated. It’s meaning only but one simple word; death. Which was exactly what they wanted of her, death.
She had a power, a very rare and strong power for Naito’s. A power of destiny almost; to decide who shall live, and who shall die. And she could kill someone with a smile snap of her fingers. Yet, she was terrified to use it. That’s partly why her family hated her in the first place. They knew she could kill them as simple as she could spell her name. In less than a second, they could be dead. They knew she knew as well as anyone, if her father and mother were dead then Kenji would be in lead. No more crying herself to sleep, no more hiding. Right?
She always thought that, and of course the only way her father would end up dead is if a rival clan attacked and killed him, or someone else did. With just a snap of her fingers she could… No. She could never do that; she feared the power as much as others feared her. Ever since the day she’d killed a boy by mistake.
FLASHBACK
A much younger Takai stood with a small group of kids about her age, around six or seven years old. They were laughing as they danced to some music playing from the dark room. All happy, and care-free of rules and danger; Then the beat of music changed and so did the dancing, they ran off into different smaller groups, giggling the entire time as they playfully tackled each other, forgetting the music. Takai was with her best friend’s brother, Ren, and later she had killed him by mistake.
They had begun to have a staring contest with each other, when he had playfully snapped his fingers in her face to get her to blinked. They both laughed as the first round ended, and they began again. Back then they had no idea of Takai’s power, only that they knew something was deadly in her blood. Something that was deadly to other people, not her. They knew something was bad, but they never knew what. Until that day…
They stared at each other for almost two full minutes before Takai decided to snap her fingers, in attempt to make Ren blink. Yet, it took a horrible turn. Once she snapped her fingers, everything around them went black. She could only see Ren, who had suddenly become paler than normal. “Ren?” she called looking around; no reply. “Ren? This is scary… What’s going on?” she turned to look at her friend, only to find him looking white as paper, his chest showed no signs of breathing, he showed no signs of life.
She let out a terrified scream as the black faded away, and once again the dark room came back. Everyone was surrounding her as she began to cry. Kenji was the one that picked her up, “What happened?” he asked worried. “Ren… He isn’t talking… Not breathing…” she whined, crying still.
ENDFLASHBACK
The flashback was suddenly cut off as she shook the image out of her mind, because of that everyone hated her. “Why me?” she sighed, staring at her hands. “Why me…” She was tempted to find her blade, but her legs refused to move for her, her mind was fighting over relief and wrong doing. “I promised niisan I wouldn’t” she reminded herself, curling up in the corner.
Kenji’s thudding feet hit the ground in rhythm as he ran, quickly transforming into the shape of bat and flying up to the old abandoned, “hunted” mansion which they lived. Going straight to Takai’s window. He easily got in and looked around the nearly pitch black room, “Sis?” he called, trying to find her. Another power of hers: hiding. She could hide her scent and sound, and blend into the shadows. Like camouflage. “Tai-Tai?” he said calling her by her nickname, his red eyes scanning the room, “don’t hide now Tai-Tai” he sighed, “it’s only me, Kenji”.
Takai had fallen asleep in the corner she’d been in, and mumbled something as she yawned sleepily, “niisan?” she called quietly, standing up and walking towards him. “Hey sleepy” he smiled hugging her, “what’s the matter?”. She looked down quietly, sitting on the bed, Kenji sitting next to her. “why can’t they just say it?” she cried angrily, “why can’t they just admit that they.. “ she paused, rubbing her eyes angrily, “stupid tears…” she mumbled, feeling weak. Kenji sighed, “Admit what?” he asked, although he knew the answer already. He hugged her lovingly as she buried her head in his shirt, “admit they hate me” she whispered
