SATCHIKO

Kazuki and Satchiko are haivng dinner in a quiet, romantic restaruant.

Satchiko is chatting. Kazuki is clearly amused and perhaps a little lovestruck.

A girl approaches the table.

GIRL
Aren’t you Hidori? I’ve seen your picture online. Oh, my gosh, you’re even more handsome in person.

Satchiko conceals a giggle as Kazuki smiles, polite yet annoyed.

KAZUKI
Thank you.

Panel 4
The girl holds out a napkin.

GIRL
Can I have your autograph? Please, it would mean so much!

Kazuki is completely embarrassed and looks a bit apologetic.

KAZUKI
I’m sorry. I don’t have a pen on me.

The girl looks slightly disappointed as she walks off.

Kazuki rubs his temples.

VOICE (SATCHIKO)
Does that happen very often?

KAZUKI
More and more lately.

Satchiko is cheerfully oblivious to Kazuki’s discomfort.

SATCHIKO
That must be exciting!

Kazuki stares silently at his plate.

Kazuki is walking Satchiko home.

KAZUKI
(aside) The life of a seiyuu is supposed to be fairly simple.

(aside) We’re supposed to be able to do what we love and not have to worry about being identified by our fan clubs.

Looking past Kazuki to Satchiko. He’s looking toward her.

KAZUKI
(aside) All I wanted was another quiet eveniing with Satchiko, but I can’t seem to escape being myself.

Satchiko is placing a comb in her hair.

SATCHIKO
(aside) Kazuki was so quiet. I was afraid he didn’t want to see me again.

Satchiko puts on a necklace.

SATCHIKO
(aside) When he asked me out tonight, I told him we could stay in.

Satchiko peeks out her window.

SATCHIKO
(aside) He just wouldn’t hear of it.

Hey! Isn’t that the guy from Fading Light?

Kazuki has folded his napkin and placed it beside his plate.

KAZUKI
Let’s go for a walk.

VOICE (SATCHIKO)
Huh?

Satchiko is now looking toward the girls’ table.

SATCHIKO
I...guess we could go for a walk.

Kazuki and Satchiko are walking side by side. Kazuki’s hands are stuffed in his pockets and he’s looking at the ground forlornly. Satchiko’s hands are folded, her arms straight. She’s looking at the ground, concern etched on her face.

Satchiko looks toward Kazuki hopefully.

SATCHIKO
It really is a lovely evening.

Kazuki is still staring at the ground.

KAZUKI
It was a nice evening.

Satchiko looks at him in surprise.

SATCHIKO
Kazuki...

Kazuki has seen Satchiko to her door.

VOICE (TOSHIYUKI)
I can’t believe you’re doing this! This is, hands down. the stupidest idea you’ve ever had.

Kazuki buttons up a somewhat revealing shirt.

VOICE (TOSHIYUKI)
I take that back. That shirt is the stupidest idea you’ve ever had. I can’t believe Satchiko agreed to this.

Kazuki glares at Toshiyuki.,

TOSHIYUKI
Tell me you at least coordianted disguises.

KAZUKI
...No.

TOSHIYUKI
This is going to be fun!

Satchiko is fastening a buckle on her overalls. Kaori is tying a huge, poofy bow in Satchiko’s hair.

KAORI
Did he say why he thought you needed to wear a disguise?

SATCHIKO
Not really.

Panel 2
Satchiko is standing in front of a mirror looking at herself. She’s clearly not thrilled.

SATCHIKO
He seemed to think it would be fun or something.

Kaori looks uncertain.

KAORI
(aside) I hope he makes this worth her time.

Satchiko adjusts the bow.

SATCHIKO
I hope he has a good explanation for this.

Kazuki and Satchiko are standing in the dorm room staring at each other. Kaori is sitting in the background trying to hide her laughter.

KAZUKI
Well, let’s get going.

Panel 2
Kaori is curled up beside her bed laughing.

KAORI
(aside) Yeah, nobody will notice those two!

Kaori is on the phone.

KAORI
You don’t say! Really?

Panel 4
Kaori is doodling on a sketchpad.

KAORI
If that’s true, then he’s really going about it the wrong way.

Why didn’t he just plan to stay in for the evening?

Kaori has dropped her pencil across the pad.

KAORI
Oh.

Kazuki and Satchiko are walking through a marketplace. People are staring.

A teenage girl walks up to them.

GIRL
Excuse me? Kobayashi-san? May I have your autograph?

Panel 3
Kazuki signs the girl’s book. He looks frustrated.

GIRL
Thank you, Kobayashi-san!

Panel 4
Kazuki looks away.

SFX: Kazuki sighing

Satchiko is in her dorm room brushing out her hair. The ribbon is on the bed beside her.

VOICE (KAORI)
Did you have fun?

SATCHIKO
I wouldn’t go that far.

Panel 2
Satchiko balls up the ribbon.

SATCHIKO
Kazuki always wants to go out, but he never seems to have any fun.

Panel 3
The balled-up ribbon is floating toward Kaori.

KAORI
Toshi says Kazuki is pretty shy.

Kaori is fiddling with the ribbon.

VOICE (SATCHIKO)
That could explain things.

So, how’d it go?

Toshiyuki throws the shirt back on the ground.

Oh?

VOICE (KAZUKI)
What’s this?

VOICE (TOSHIYUKI)
A fan site.

Panel 3
Kazuki is staring intently at the screen.

KAZUKI
These are from recent conventions.

VOICE (TOSHIYUKI)
Yeah, and she’s focusing on you, me, Hikaru, and Michiko.

Toshiyuki leans against the desk.

TOSHIYUKI
No wonder we’re getting mobbed lately, yeah?

Kazuki nods.

Kazuki is sitting on a windowsill, looking out the window.

KAZUKI

(aside) I never wanted the spotlight.

(aside) I never wanted my life to become public.

(aside) All I wanted was a job I love and perhaps someone I could share my life with.

(aside) But I can’t ask Satchiko to live this life.
