“Unknown Future”

Silent tears rage down my sunburnt cheeks

There is nothing I can do now but trudge towards nothing

My immediate fate has been decided for me

To follow the lights as they disappear towards oblivion

Through the darkness I can see nothing

But I sense a fear that can only be my own

There is an uncertainty in my path

And as I fear what I am walking towards

My tears begin anew

To my right I feel a rift in the cold, hard ground

Too wide to jump, but also too deep to scale

On my left is a special warmth in the air

A supporting breeze that brings comfort in my solitude

Below me in the road

Built with many travelers in mind

And above me shines a moon that only highlights my past

Before me is the darkness

Behind me is the light
