“Can You Say That You Love Me?”
We are defined by what we do not say
Expressions are the pathway to our thoughts
Smile at me; just for me
And I will know that you love me
Silence is said to create ignorance
But speaking is useless without pause
Emphasis in expression is the answer here
And your tears tell all to my heart
There may not always be a way to show how we feel
At least, not without contact
So if what you feel inside is too strong for words
Then show me with your body what you need to say
A hug for friendship; a kiss for love
A smile to show that you care
Can you cry for your pain?
And will you let me kiss your tears away?
If I show you how I feel
Will you think less of me?
If I pound on your chest in frustration
If I cry my heart out on your shoulder
If I laugh until my sides hurt
If I kiss you until words won’t come
Will you love me any less?
Do you love me as I am?
Do you love me now?
After all hat we have shared
Can you say that you love me?
