As soon as they walked into class, they tried to find good seats, paying no mind to their homeroom teacher who was bustling to and fro getting ready for her first period class.

“What classes did you ask for?” Amy asked Naomi, as they took seats in the middle row of desks. “I tried for Painting 1 and Computer Programming.” Painting was an easy class, and she needed the Visual and Performing Arts credits for college and any computer class was fine with her. She had taken two already, and still she wanted to learn more.

“You take painting now? Where were you last year, when I asked you to sign up for it with me? I got into Journalism, so I’m doing that and, hopefully, Woman in History, with Mrs. Toffer. Her class is so easy.” And it was. She’d be the teacher who you could turn in the same homework over and over, getting credit for it, until she finally noticed. She only looked at the title, date and length of writing. Amy and Naomi had life skills with her in 9th grade. Amy did just that for experiment reasons, and got away with it for two weeks until Mrs. Toffer noticed. Amy called it an ‘accident’, and that she left the work at home. The next day she turned in the real assignment, after she did it the night before. Amy was a good student, so the teacher never suspected a thing.

Naomi looked behind Amy at the class room door. “Who’s that?” she said in mild interest.

Amy looked back to see what caught her friends interest, only to see a rather tall looking boy with black hair and appealing green eyes.

He was no Michael, but he was pretty cute. “Obviously some new guy.”

“Obviously,” Naomi said with a roll of her eyes. “I wonder what he’d be like in bed.”

“Excuse me?” Amy said, eyebrows raised at the comment.

“Yeah, you know, sex.”

“Okay, that was random and totally uncalled for!” Amy said with a look of revulsion, hiding her embarrassment of the topic.

Naomi smirked at the obvious discomfort of her friend. “It was just a thought… he is cute. Its just too bad I’m saving myself for Jared, though.” Naomi has always held this obsession over Jared Padalecki (Gilmore girls, and Supernatural.

“Ew… like he’d even consider you,” they heard a new voice say. “When he could have me.”

“Please, you know your jealous,” Naomi told her twin, Sarah. The girl must have walked in class when they were, embarrassingly to Amy, talking about sex with the new guy.

Sarah sniffed, “As if. You know I’m the better twin. Amy can second to that.” Both sisters looked at her expectantly. Amy looked at them with amusement. Did they actually think she’d get involved in their little argument? Not a chance in hell. “Ha! You don’t expect me to choose, do you? Don’t get me involved in your fights. Besides, I love you both, I could never choose.”

“Aw… we love you too.” Sarah told Amy, then turned on her sister. “Why can’t you be more like that? You hang out with her enough.”

“Well, your not exactly the ideal sibling your self, sister dearest.”

Naomi and Sarah were fraternal twins. They looked like normal sisters, with the same traits here and there, but for some reason Sarah looked older. The ironic part? Naomi was older by five minutes and was the mature one of the two. They always argue, but at the end of the day, they always have each other to come home to. And… their mom would kill them if they fought at home. Mrs. Bennet always talked about how close she was with her brother, and that because they were sisters they should be closer.

They both had blonde hair, and brown eyes, but Sarah seemed to have the more mature features (if you could even call features ‘mature’). Though Sarah was shorter then Naomi, she had much more intense eyes that seemed to age her. She had shoulder length hair, in difference to Naomi’s mid-back length, and she also carried herself differently. Naomi slumped, because almost everyone was shorter then her, but Sarah carried herself tall.

Naomi had more trouble insulting people too, unlike Sarah. Oh, no, Sarah had no problem insulting a person to their face. If she didn’t like you, she’d let it be known. But, with Naomi, only with her sister did she feel free to make an insult. They were just joking around, so neither took offence.

But they always had each others backs. Some times, Amy was jealous of it. She didn’t have siblings, hell, she didn’t even have cousins. Her mom was an only child, and forget her dads side of the family; they didn’t even exist to Amy. No one from his side of the family even tried to contact her, that she knew of.

Why were they friends with a nobody like her? Family influence. Amy’s grandmother and Sarah and Naomi’s mother were in the same book club. It started out as just respect for Amy’s grandmother, being that she was older. Then, Amy’s guess is, they found out they had more in common then just reading books. Amy never really asked how… she was just grateful that they were. Sarah was a good friend, but Naomi was her best friend. They knew each other front and back.

“Okay, stop it,” Amy said, taking out her reading book after she saw there was only a few minutes left till homeroom would start.

“Make love, not war.”

Naomi smiled. “Especially when the guy is hot.”

Took Amy three seconds before she understood Naomi. Oh, come on, not this again, Amy thought, with regret at her words. They did this on purpose. They knew how much she hated having conversations about sex. How much they made her uncomfortable. Their excuse was that she needed to grow up. Amy thought it was stupid, and told them in many occasions, but stubborn they were. I mean, you didn’t think that Naomi was being random on the occasion of just being random in the beginning of the conversation? No, she has way too much control over her mouth for that.

“That’s not what I was--” Amy started.

“Especially? No, the guy has to be hot every damn time!” Sarah interrupted.

“Why do you always do this? I’m more mature then both of you!” Amy exclaimed.

“Not when it comes to S-E-X,” Sarah replied.

“I’m…okay when you talk about, um, you know, that.”

They both laughed. “Ha! Right hon. You can’t even say the word,” Naomi said rolling her eyes.

“Yes…” Amy faltered. Then seeing their annoyingly smug grins, she proclaimed, “Yes, I can!” Except, it came out as a question.

“Are you asking us.”

Amy blushed. “Shut up.”

They both started laughing all over again.

“Tubby made it back to school, I see,” the trio heard a voice say from behind them after homeroom. They all turned to see Seanna. “Too bad, I was hoping her grandma would send her away to fat camp and leave her there.” Her eyes skimmed Amy, stopping at her stomach. “I guess I wasn’t far off, though, you missed a spot-- a huge gap, in fact. But, you should know, no matter how much weight you lose, you’ll still be a fatty in my eyes.”

“Go away, Seanna. Don’t you have your own complexion to look after? In fact, I think I see a pimple coming in,” Sarah said smoothly, defending her friend.

“Ha ha ha,” she mock laughed. “My face is perfect.” She glared at Sarah.

Sarah rolled her eyes. In the 8th grade, ‘perfect skinned’ Seanna had acne. And when that’s said, its meant lots of acne, meaning her face made her look like a cherry. Then, the year they started high school, suddenly her skin was like porcelain, obviously from treatment. Nobody could have gotten rid of that many pimples naturally. And suddenly she was the girl every guy wanted to date. It was annoyingly angering to see such a horrible girl be the most worshiped.

“Oh, but you should know,” Sarah said mocking Seanna. “You’ll always be the acne queen in my eyes.”

“Bitch.”

“Slut.”

“You should talk.”

“I should talk? Honey, with as many boyfriends as you’ve had, you must have had something going on,” Sarah snapped at her. “But, me, a slut? No, I don’t think so.”

Seanna’s face was contorted with anger, her eyes narrowed to slits. “How dare--”
Naomi interrupted with, “As fun as this is, I think its time we go.” She took her sister’s hand, and grabbed Amy and walked away.

“Sarah, I get how you want to bring her down a notch,” Amy started when they were out of ear shot. “But please try to ignore her. Her words don’t even mean anything anymore.” With a cynical glance from Sarah, she said earnestly, “Really, she’s said them so many times, they’ve lost there meaning.”

She pursed her lips. “Fine, whatever, I’ll ignore her. Better get to class or we’ll be late.”
