Countless times we hath request
That God our home do bless
Yet is it us, that needs this gift?
Or are there are others, that harder lives live?

Do we who carry this request as a mere banner
Deserve it more than those who suffer in a manner
That surely even the devil himself
Would not upon wish someone else?

We ask the one True God above
But ask we Him for His love?
Or has it become merely a mindless cry?
Spoke without thought given by the mind?

Or are there those who more the blessing need?
Does our receiving of it take away from these?
Have we the right to ask for it?
If it takes from them, "not" I think

Perhaps not to us we ought to ask the blessing to fall
Mayhaps bless those who need it, we ought to call
For in truth, we sit at comfort in our homes
Far from the skies filled with wails of woes

And so therefore, I ask Thee, Lord,
If the blessing doth take away
Then bestow it upon them, and not we
For 'tis not we who need it, but they
