Echoes of a Watch

I’m obsessed with a number,

Between one and ten

Because my inner clock is broken

And forever’s got a due date.

Can you figure it out:

What makes my heart tick

To the beat of your thoughts?

I’ve never quite figured it out.

The space between moments

Seems too large to fill

And I just hope that one day

There won’t be any at all.

Because then we would be closer

And no clock would exist

To tell us when to go,

Leave or when to stop.

While I wait for your alarm,

(I hope you won’t be too late)

I’ll watch time fly by

On an empty white horse.

Because I’m ready for you,

And I hope you realize that too

Since the clock is ticking

And time won’t stop for you.
