When I was 5-6 years old I suffered from chronic ear infections that led to an operation to have ear tubes put in both my ears. As a child I was very frightened at the thought of going to spend the night in the hospital away from my family.

During the week before the surgery, a pastor from our church (Baptist) came over to our house, laid hands on and prayed for me.

When I got into the hospital I was told that I would be sleeping in a child-sized-crib. I was not to happy about that. They put a net over it. I felt like a little animal trapped in a cage.

Bright and early the next morning, I was wheeled into surgery. I can remember the anesthesiologist having me count back from ten to one as I drifted off into a deep sleep.

While under, I had a vision. I saw the doctor and the nurses, and the anesthesiologist as the surgery was being done. I saw myself lying there on the table. And I saw an angel at the head of the table. He didn't have wings. He had long curly brown hair and he wore a white toga looking thing (a sheet?)

In his arms he held a baby. He told me that the baby was Jesus, and that he would be there to watch over me my whole life.

An hour or so later, I woke up in recovery. My mom was there and I kept rambling on about that dream… with excitement.

This is got to be one of the most faith building experiences I had in my life. I’ll write about more of them.
