That Autumn Afternoon

You fell down for awhile
And no one could pick you up
We all waited for your smile
That never came

You were taken too soon
And we all came too late
On that autumn afternoon
You were gone

Rest forever in your peace
And we will pray for you to see
We all make promises we can’t keep
You had to leave

You won’t hurt anymore
At least that much makes sense
You just left before
We could say goodbye

If only you’d wake up again
The tears would cease
All the pain would end
We love you always

Rest forever in your peace
And we will pray for you to see
We all make promises we can’t keep
You had to leave

On that autumn afternoon
You were gone too soon
