Maturity Defined

For all of those curious, there are many interpretations of "maturity" as it applies to a teenager or an adult.

I'll just make it simple and blunt for all to see. This interpretation is drawn from not only personal experience but the misfortune of others and my interpretations of their situation.

MATURITY IS very simple to define.

There is the popular version of those that must find someone-

Maturity is separation anxiety.

Maturity is going up to a girl/boy and asking her/him to break your heart.

Maturity is running around to find someone to tell you that they hate you in either days or months, or even years.

Maturity is finding someone else to be necessary to complete your life.

Then, there is my version:

Why is it that whenever you are called mature it’s because you expect to have your heart broken and it happens?

Very simple.

Maturity is taking your heart out and asking someone to step on it.

Maturity is emotional masochism.

Maturity is either ignoring or embracing emotional pain.

Maturity is keeping your mouth shut when someone else beats you to the punch.

Maturity is being happy in sadness.

Maturity is overrated.
