this is an open-ended apology,

in case you need one some night

when the world's ears have gone deaf

and no one is listening.

you caved in

alone in your bedroom

never thinking it would happen so soon.

well it did, my friend

it came and it laughed in your face

my whispered taunts come in, feeling vindicated in a late summer's sticky heat

patches come in and out

all feelings do fade in time, whether you like it or not.

"do we cry because our love is gone

-or-

did it simply never exist?"

i just think it never visited.

so like me

you are bound to walk through these empty streets

perpetually alone.

and everyone will call and comment that you are so lovelorn,

you are a ship lost at sea.
