Wonder

It must be so forgiving.

To look in the empty mirror above you

Your reflection hidden from sight

Waiting for a monster to come and shatter the glass

Listen to your heart beat against these silent sheets

Filthy, dirty, dusty, what remains?

You are alone, what to do?

Your bedroom light, oh how it shines

Sickly yellow, you still can’t see clearly

Mirrors and paintings line the walls

“Come, come and gaze into our unreal realities”

You wish you could just relax and forget

You hate it when people are around

You hate it when you are alone

So somber, so silent, what can you do but write your heart away?

Cars revving outside, sirens wailing off in the distance

It’s a sanctuary, a shrine, your trap

All is quiet, all is sleeping

You were always left out

The clock proclaims midnight but you will not rest

Such sadness haunts you here

You don’t understand

But here it is eerie and you delve deeper into the ocean of life

It’s hot, won’t anyone open the window?

It’s suffocating

But it’s you

Empty and neglected and filled with someone else’s life

What could be more, what could be less?

This isn’t really yours

You’re left to ponder on a still night

Violin melodies disturb the quiet

Music as a getaway as you despise it so

Someone needs to help you out of this feeling

But there is no one there

You are alone to explore your world

Will you ever come back?
