Scarlet Linen
By: Danny Dodger
A warped child’s bedtime tale
Their lunatic mother whispers harshly
The shadow marionettes slither down walls
As they quiver beneath their covers in trepidation
“She found her self in an alley way, no escape from the murderer”
The children clung to each other for a sense of protection on this night
The suicidal mother dancing through their room in the hours of darkness
She stops and glares at them with ravenous eyes as she stalks forward
She licks her blistered lips as she cocks her head to the side
“Sweet child of mine it will not hurt, I promise you”
A solitary shriek shot out like lightning
Two little girls found deceased today
The white linen saturated scarlet
A broken shadow oil lamp
A mother’s misery
Ideal execution
