Chapter 2

“Is that them?” A young man, around the age of twenty asked, pointing to Kenny and Tenesa as they stepped out of the store together.

“Yes, Tenesa Ryan and Kenneth Strong.” The older man replied who talked to Tenesa in the store.

“How is it that all the older guys get the young girls?” The young man replied.

“Duze, will you be quiet so I can do this?” The older man said, holding up a piece of paper that he pulled out of his pocket.

“Be my guest Darres.” The young man said, gesturing with his right hand for him to continue.

“Thank you kindly.” Darres said clearing his throat then recited;

Thou shall be, eternally,

Bound by faith,

Love and Trust.

Whom have hardly knew,

But written in the stars,

Will be bound,

To each other,

Forever, eternally, and thereafter.

The two men sat in silence for a little while, eyes closed, concentrating. After a few minutes of silence Duze interrupted.

“That’s it? That doesn’t even rhyme.” He snickered.

“I’ve been around much longer then you have, Duze. And they don’t have to rhyme; it’s just the wording and thoughts that matters. Hasn’t anyone told you that?” Darres asked?

“Heard it many times before Darres, old man. But I prefer it to rhyme, goes much smoother.” Duze smiled at him which made Darres glare at him.

“Then next time you bring the spell.” Darres rolled his eyes.

“Will do. So, those two are the ones? That will help us?” Duze asked, as he watched Tenesa drive away and Kenny walked up to the door to go back inside but he turned and looked around the parking lot. Duze and Darres ducked under the dashboard.

“Yes. But they aren’t only for our cause. They will also want them. To break them apart, so are job isn’t going to go as smoothly as you hope. They will try everything in their power to stop it.” Darres said as they sat up in the car again, Duze started up the car and pealed out of the lot.

“Let me get this straight. We need them together for our power, while They need them apart or otherwise they will lose power. Right?” Duze asked, looking at Darres out of the corner of his eye.

“Exactly.”

“But what else will happen? Do we know?”

“No, my friend. We don’t. We just have to do what we are told. It’s our job.”

“I wish there was a pamphlet that came with each job telling us exactly what is going to happen.” Duze sighed, Darres nodded.

“I know, but it doesn’t work that way. We just have to see how things unfold and make sure They don’t get in the way.” Darres said, sinking into the passenger seat, letting out a long breath.

“Is it too late to ask for a transfer?” Duze asked with a smile.

“We don’t ask for these jobs. We just get picked for them so we can’t ask for a transfer and you know it.” Darres replied matter-of-fact.

“Lighten up old man. It was a joke. If we could ask for a transfer I might just ask for another partner that knows what a joke is.” Duze said sticking out his tongue at Darres.

Darres gave Duze a look that made the younger man laugh loudly, making his blue eyes sparkle in the moonlight. The two men were so opposite in a lot of ways. Duze was taller then Darres by a few inches and had brown hair and blue eyes. He was also younger in looks and more muscular while Darres had older looks and was wiry. Darres was more mature and studious; Duze was laid back and a joker.

Darres had to admit that Duze gave their jobs a little more flair, adding comedy to even the morbid of situations. He laughed in the face of evil. Although there was always a bad side, he sometimes forgot on whose life to save and got careless. This is one reason why the two were paired up in the first place. Duze was adventurous and did whatever needed to be done while Darres went by the book on everything, never stepping out of line. So they helped each other in all the situations they went through.

“What are they doing here?” A deep voice said. The voice belonged to a lanky blonde with dark blue eyes.

“Settle down Dominick. Probably for the same reason we are. But we are one step ahead of them.” An equally tall man said, with deep brown eyes and black hair. His voice was deep but soothing.

“How so, Vallon?” Dominick asked, arching an eyebrow at the other man.

“We know that they are here to spoil our fun. While they just think we’ll come soon, they don’t know that we are here now.” Vallon replied with a little laugh.

“So when do we move in?” Dominick said, leaning against the small wall that faced the parking lot.

They couldn’t be seen unless someone knew they were there. They were dressed all in black, different styles. Dominick had black jeans and a regular shirt on, his shoulder length hair blowing in front of his eyes. Vallon on the other hand looked like he stepped out of an old vampire story. His clothes were a satin style, and gave him an elegant look, his own black hair was cut short and made him distinguished.

“Soon, my dear Dominick. We must give the others the joy of having the first move. Then we will play our own game.” Vallon replied with another small laugh. “And it will give me time to round up a few more friends.”

Dominick nodded with a smile strewn across his face. They both pushed off of the wall they were leaning on and started walking off into the night.

A/N:

Just cause I like people commenting and when I comment I like hearing from the author, this is what I do. Second chapter, it’s shorter then the first. Why? Cause this is the…I’m not saying. 

Time for comments!

Keichiru Shikada; I hope you do like it. I have the ending already planned and several other conflicts planned out, but to get to them is the hard part. Guess I’ll just write and see where it takes me.

Pink and Black; Now I must go read your stories. :-P haha. Can’t be that old. I should post my age on the front page shouldn’t I? Yeah, I’ll go do that as soon as I add this. Hehe. Thanks for the comment and I hope you continue reading and loving.
