YAY! My very first fanfic on ! For those who skipped right onto the prologue, I kind of suggest you go back and read the Author’s Note. Either that or you will be super confused by this story! (XD) Of course, I always warn you, ONCE again. This story contains self-mutilation, A LOT of angst, and drug abuse. And almost RAPE. (x.x; OMG! I can’t believe I’m writing a story like this!) I don’t know why, but I love reading and writing angst stories because their pretty entertaining! u So, while I’m rambling out about nonsense, you go on and read my SUPER sad story! THANKS!
I remember, back long ago, when Daddy always hugged me and would spin me around in his arms…
Walking on Vanity Ruins
Prologue
I remember, back long ago, when Daddy always hugged me and would spin me around his arms… I would nearly throw up, but as high as he always lifted me, I could see the sun… The ever shining sun that let that everlasting joy in my life never disappears. I would se my mother, my brother, and my twin sister there with me, playing along to. Remembering this is like floating back into a dream that was once a true. A once true thing that made my life so wonderful and happy, that I was never sad at all.
And then, that dream was broken in two. The spinning in the sun stopped, seeing my mother, brother, and sister stopped. Also, being spun around and around by my dad was thrown back into the past… And now, all I see is…
The color red…

Normal POV
Gah, I hate school… It’s so fucking pointless… Hikari’s thoughts were filled with hate as she thought about school. The most pointless place on the face of the planet, she called it sometimes (and to many others, they agreed). She hated school; she despised it all together for that matter. To her, the only thing there awaiting her was endless screaming from old, puny teachers who were stuck in the old days and stupid kids her age that were going around kissing, making out, and even getting pregnant.
“I CAN’T WAIT! I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE ALL MY FRIENDS!” Hikari rolled her eyes and glanced over at Misaki, who was as jumpy and overly excited as ever. She couldn’t understand her twin sister sometimes. Weren’t they supposed to have something in COMMON? The only things that they both shared were their eyes and sparkly, pink hair (that drove Hikari over the edge.) Misaki looked at Hikari with a big smile on her face. “Oh, why such the long face, Mrs. Grumpykins?”
Hikari threw her pencil at Misaki and the pencil barely missed her eye. Her sister screamed and threw the pencil back (which Hikari caught) and then turned the other way to look out the window, grumbling to herself. Good, Mrs. Hyperactive is not bothering me now. Now this is what I call heaven. Hikari tiredly gazed out the window as the bus stopped and a boy walked on.
His hair was short, but still a bit long (it almost reached down past his shoulders); it was multicolored, in other words, blonde and black (A.N/ : I know, sounds like Hikaru from Hikaru no Go.). Hikari twitched at the silver piercing above his eye close to his eyebrow and his pierced ears (that also had silver ear rings.) But then, there was also a small tinge of red that flashed over her cheeks as he stared at her and came all the way into the back where he sat on the opposite side of her.
“Hey there, what’s your name?”
“Um… H-hikari…”
“Oh, my name is Mashiro Kuroki. But don’t call me that stupid name, I like Spike better.”
Hikari nodded quickly. “Okay, Spike then…”
She glanced at her brother Ryuu, who was already glaring at Spike (who really didn’t seem to care one bit). Hikari glared back at Ryuu in return, but he just gave Spike eyes that kept saying “Touch her, you die”.
“Don’t mind me stupid brother. He’s overprotective and crap like that.”
“Mm, yeah, I noticed.”
For a moment, they just sat there in silence. Hikari stared out in space trying her best to ignore her sister talking to some other kid, who was even louder than her AND also trying to escape her brother’s annoying gaze (she was trying her best not to attack him). The silence was broken when Spike finally spoke.
“So, Hikari… Where do you live?”
“I live in a small neighborhood that’s about like half a mile from your house. Why?”
“Maybe we can hang out sometime, you know. Because it seems like we have something in common; I can see from your face that you hate school too.”
“Yeah, I hate school with a passion.”
“One more thing, can I see your classes?”
Hikari opened her book bag and pulled out a small folded up sheet of paper with a whole bunch of doodles of little stick people being murdered and impaled. Spike to the sheet of paper and laughed at some of the drawings and with back on to looking at her schedule.
“What do you know…? We have all the same classes! That means we’ll be friends in no time.” He handed it back and sat back in his chair. Hikari put the paper back into her book bag and did the same as Spike, except she kicked the seat in front of her in the process.

Hikari’s POV
Things went downhill then, after my happy life in the sun ended… Now, I have a strong feeling that my parents can STAND the likes of me being around and that I should just die and rot in my room like some kind of creature. My daddy… I know he hates me, I can see it in his eyes when he looks at me, well when he’s around. He’s always caught up his job and when he’s not doing that, he’s having fun with my brother, sister and mom. I became a person separated from their world; once again, some kind of creature with no purpose, no life, and most importantly: no love.
When things went downhill from there, so did family life, once again. Meeting him, that boy, I think made things much worse than they use to be. I guess, I was only born for my life to spiral out of control and be drowned into an eternal hellhole.
I wish sometimes, things would go back to the way they use to be. When my life was filled with sunshine. There I go again, floating back into the dream. A dream that was once true, and is now nothing but a distant memory in my mind.
