Walking on Vanity Ruins
Epilogue: All That Glitters Is Not Gold
All that glitters is not gold.
Hikari watched silently, smiling a bit as she watched her mom waddle around the house slowly. Peering back down, she began writing in her diary once more.
Things that may seem great, may not be.
But things that may not seem great, may be.
She blinked for a moment, remembering back before she had finally made it back to where she was now. She was safe now, she was at home now with her family. Her loud, obnoxious, but loving family that she knew no matter what she did, she was never going to be able to escape from them.
My mom is glowing now. Well, I mean in the stomach anyway. After I came home from the rehab center, she found out that she was pregnant. That sucks, because I’m going to have to deal with three annoying people now. A sister, an older brother, and a baby boy to come. But, I’ll live. I think I thrive off chaos anyway.
“Has anyone seem my shoes?! I can’t find them… Takashi! Help! Gah, feet are killing me… Maybe I should stop walking…. Has anyone seen my candy bar! I’m really hungry right now! TAKA! Can you go get some doughnuts at the bakery?” Leora went back and forth from the kitchen to the living room, and then outside, and then back upstairs where Taka was; who eventually came downstairs with car keys in his hand and a list of sweets and foods that Leora was craving for.
If she keeps eating like that, she’s going to be a blimp. Or as my dad says, ‘She’s going to be plump, and NOT because of the baby.’ Of course, he doesn’t say that around her because her hormones are going off the charts and she could have an outburst at any second if you waited long enough.
Misaki leaped down the stairs, running up to Hikari (who quickly closed her diary before Misaki could read anything she wrote). Misaki smiled at her, pulling at her cheeks and grinning ear to ear.
“So… Are you and Hikaru still going to the movies together…? If so, are you going to actually wear what I picked out for you? Don’t worry, its not that girly. Its just a start!” She beamed happily, waiting for an answer as she hugged Hikari tightly, who was starting to choke from the hold around her neck.
“Yes… It better not be all pink and flowery either.”
“Your hair is pink.”
“No, it WAS pink. Now its more of a reddish, pinkish color.”
“That’s still considered pink you know.”
“Gah, shut up and go finish preparing my outfit or something!”
“Sure, Princess Hikari!”
Misaki dashed upstairs, and Hikari sighed exasperatedly.
Being a twin is strange sometimes. I hate it that she can feel what I feel… I remember when I came home that day, she screamed at me and asked my why hadn’t she told anyone before that I was having trouble. (She didn’t sense it until I had disappeared that day when Spike had kidnapped me.) But, things have gotten better between us since that fight so long ago. (A/C: XD; I think… The small fight that they had happened in chapter called “A Place Other Than Home”. If you want to review, then go look. Lol)
And now, as you can see… Well… I wouldn’t necessarily say that Hikaru and I are dating but… Geez, I don’t even know how to explain it anymore. I’m still so bashful (yeah, I’m surprised too) and I can’t seem to open up very much because I’m always so nervous now. The exact opposite of how I was so back then. I use to be so outspoken, that I would chase people away and they would never want to come near me. And now look at me. Sometimes, I can be so introvert that I scare people.
“OKAY! I’m done! Come and try on your outfit!”
Now… I guess its date time for me…
Hikari sighed to her self for a moment, and then slowly shut the small blue booklet in front of her as she stood to her feet. She felt her cheeks becoming slightly warm as she walked up the stairs, imagining the date. I guess that me being hopeless will never get old, huh…? I think its just knowing that you use to hate a person a lot turned into something a lot more than you thought it was going to be. With her eyes narrowed, she waved for her sister to hold on (she was standing out in the hallway waving around a skirt) and then walked into her room, placing the book underneath her bed in almost five boxes. (A/C: Hell, I’d hide my diary under the floorboard or something. XD;)
“Here I come, Misaki!”
After pushing the boxes back underneath the bed, she dashed out of her room shutting the door behind her.

Hikari groaned and slowly pulled the skirt downward as she walked outside, looking around to see if Hikaru was waiting for her. Blinking when she didn’t see him anywhere, she began walking down the road silently, gazing down at her feet.
It’s always so tranquil now.
Occasionally, its chaotic at my house, but out here in the neighborhood, its no longer loud and… And it doesn’t even have the dark atmosphere it used to have before.
Or maybe it’s just me.
Putting her hands together, she strolled down the sidewalk towards the neighborhood that usually came up first when entering that part of the town. That was when she saw someone standing in the distance, waving at her. Squinting her eyes, she felt her heart flutter for a moment, and then she waved back as she realized that it was Hikaru.
“HEY!”
Hikari ran up to him quickly, hugging him like he was a teddy bear. Hikaru gasped for a moment and nearly fell backwards. “GEEZ HIKARI! A TACKLE?!” He laughed a bit as he caught himself and stood straight up, smiling down at her.
“You ready?”
“Duh, don’t I look ready?!”
Hikaru laughed a bit, nodding. And then he slowly closed his eyes and grabbed Hikari’s hand, squeezing it in his palm tightly. This surprised Hikari for a moment as her eyes widened just a bit, and then smiling, she squeezed his hand also in her palm.
You lucky son of bitch. (A/C: XDDD lol)
I think you just might have found the ONE person that understands you.
And that ONE person just for you.
He pulled her along the road, nearly dragging her. But, Hikari didn’t mind one bit.
As long as she was close to him, she was complete.
Happy and complete.
- - THE END! TOT NOOO!!! (XD;)
