Swallowed

In my mind a strong wind blows
Through the leaves of thought
Just like the News around me
My mind is in conflict.

Unable to decipher if I have done the right thing
My life is so hard to like
Friends have been lost as I move a different way
The road disappearing before my feet.

My strength and refuge are gone
My hop and desire destroyed
The body is now an empty shell
As my soul has broken away.

I’m lost and unable to see the way through
The road is long, all my bridges burnt
And the smiles of the ones I love
Seem so distant and full of fear.

This life is confusing and I feel alone
As though no one understands
Just what it is I am going through
Just to see happiness in you.
