Love is Gone, Friendship is Found

While in my heart no one will ever take your place
I finally find myself walking out the door
The love is gone, the friendship found
My heart no longer yearns for you.

It’s taken a lot longer than I would have hoped
But the time has now arrived
In my heart now you are just
A memory of moments past.

Thank you for you love and support
It truly was amazing
But now I can see through clear love-emptied eyes
That an enduring friendship is about to begin.

No longer will my dreams be of you
Or my poems consumed by you
I’m finally moving on my love no longer near
Now we can continue on, as nothing will ever happen.

The joy I experience as I write this
Is coursing through my body
No more do I wish to turn back the sands of time
As for I can now walk forward.
