The Missing Part

Out of all the men I have ever been with
You were the one to take the most of my heart
Now it is time for you to return it
For without it I cannot move on.

Our relationship ended incompletely
Loose ends not tied up
My heart longs for its missing part
And you are the one who holds it.

How many songs remind me of you?
And how many times do I sing them?
I want to move on but because of the missing part
I can never move on from this.

A life is calling me
And drawing me near
Yet I’m stuck on the other side of the river
My missing part my boat ride across.

It’s time to go, it’s time to retrieve
My missing heart piece is yearning for home
With luck it will meet up with me
Before its hole destroys what it has left.
