The Meadow
I shall not return to this meadow again
I shall not return to this dream.
The kites have all floated away now
Released from their anchors andstrings.
And soon I must follow and float off as well
To the world that is home to the wise.
For a life that is spent in the meadow
Is life without compromise.
And though my dreams to here shall often wander,
I know in my mind I can't stay.
I must leave this meadow and its flowers behind
As my childhood wanes with the day.
