Present

My mind is shattered, I know this
The fragments float in unknown mist
I fear the things that I may do
I fear the most, that I’ll hurt you

The only clearing, the only sign
Is when you reach for me, say your mine
I hold you close, you make things real
Perhaps with you my mind can heal.

I close my eyes, I sleep, I dream
I wake with a tear and scream
How can these things be true
Invisible enemies hurting you

I don’t know how I feel about me
But I do know what I see
I see you in my arms
So I can protect you from all harm

Now I fix myself for this
If I could have one last wish
I would be with you at last
And bid farewell to my past
