A Goddess's Tourniquet
Jerz chuckled, "no I didn't forget, you would've found out if I had not. Harna is doing well by the way."
Manya groaned, holding her head she looked at the Demoness just as her eyes fluttered shut. "Kailex?" she murmured, reaching over and shaking her shoulder. "Kailex!" she called her name louder. "Shuu! I think Kailex is really hurt!" she called to him.
Shuu tossed a packet of herbs back. "Rub this into her chest. She'll be fine." he turned back to Jerz. "So, did you and Harna finally get together? And did that horrible wizard stop summoning you? The ones in that dimension are such drags, aren't they?" he grinned.
"Indeed, we managed to get away from them via our own methods," he grinned toothily, "and yes, we did get back together,” the dragon smiled, this time not so ‘toothy’. "Oh, you dog you! So he stopped trying to kill you then." Shuu shook his head. "All that sexual tension in the air was such a...well...tense thing."
Manya caught the herbs and looked at Kailex, hearing that the Demoness was obviously married to a 'woman' via her use of the word 'wife' Manya was not very keen to start rubbing herbs in the Demoness’s chest in case she took it the wrong way when she woke up. So instead the ranger opted to just sit there as though nothing was wrong.
Jerz would've blushed if he was able to, "um yes well uh..." he coughed nervously, "he is um... well..."
Shuu didn't even look at her, but he seemed to hear her thoughts. "Her upper chest, you pervert! Not her breasts!" he snapped. Manya scowled, "then you should have said so!" she called back. "I did! Now, Jerz, did Harna's mother finally stop harassing you about corrupting her innocent son? Jenna was very straight laced as I remember. She had a very strong grip too." He rubbed one cheek, in the place where grandmothers pinch small children's cheeks. "Yes, a very strong grip."
Manya made a frustrated sound but still didn't want to do it. "Yes she has stopped harassing us," Jerz answered, smiling again while his tail shifted slightly along the ground. "What if she thinks something of it!?" Manya called. "Then tell her it's physician's orders. It's fine. Or hit her on the back of the head. Whatever works."
Kailex's eyes fluttered open again, nice...to know... I am so...disgusting... she whispered. Forcing herself up Kailex's world spun slightly before she could see straight, her head was thumping and her vision blurry and red. Does not matter... obviously not welcome... she began to stagger away in a random direction.
"Sorry Jerz, back in a minute." Shuu smiled apologetically and darted after the staggering Demoness. Manya slapped her forehead again and just sat there with a scowl on her face. Kailex had by now gotten at least twenty metres away and had leaned up against a tree, her head feeling like it was going to explode at some point.
"Lexi! Bad Lexi!" Shuu seemed materialize in front of her. "I turn my back on you for a minute to talk to one of my friends, and you get up and wander off! Now. You are sick. you are injured. You -will- go and sit down, and let Manya take care of you while I catch up with Jerz. Do you understand me?" Shuu seemed to grow metres taller, and his eyes glowed golden at the end of his sentence.
Kailex slid down against the tree, her eyes blank as though she hadn't heard him. She would not take care of me... she muttered coldly. I wish Keleria was here... she whispered. "Well she isn't." he turned. "MANYA! Get your skinny ranger ass over here!" he called loudly, impatiently.
Manya’s scowl deepened and she stayed put, "I am not SKINNY! I am athletic!" she called. The Demoness snarled and stood up, walking slowly back to where Manya was. Dreyoon meerk doan... Kailex murmured softly.
"Now...You are going to calm down." Shuu poked Manya just above the collar bone, on the flat part of her chest. "You will help Kailex with her injuries." "YOU!" He turned and did the same to Kailex, "You will let her treat you, and not freak out. I will continue my conversation with Jerz, who I haven't seen in Centur-a long time!"
Manya swatted his hand away. Kailex merely sat down, or more like flopped down onto the ground. Jerz scowled at the ranger, his nostrils flared.
"Savvy?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow. Manya and Kailex couldn't help but feel small, and young next to him, and as Kailex was a goddess from the dawn of time...this surprised her. A lot.
Kailex looked away, not feeling very well at the moment she couldn't be bothered to even start thinking of what to say back to him. The Demoness grunted slightly and snatched the herbs off Manya, her expression pained. Manya merely shifted a bit further away, a slight look of relief on her face.
"No! You can't administer them yourself! Trust me on this! I am a master herbalist." He snatched the packet away and tossed it back to Manya. "It'll make you slightly drowsy when it's administered, and if you leave the herbs on too long, it'll be lethal. And you!" He turned and pointed at Manya again, "Don't look so relieved. You guys'll both get injured at some point, and have to treat each other at some time, so get your mind outta the freakin' gutter!" He took a deep breath, trying to get rid of the redness in his face. Unfortunately, his frail constitution, his sleepless night, the stress of travelling to a new plane, plus the large speech he'd just made without stopping stretched him too far. He collapsed backwards, completely unconscious.
Kailex growled in nagging pain, le terk rey loopren tith grethin Manya... the Demoness raised an eyebrow when she noticed the unconscious thief laying there. Besa tey jell? she asked.
Jerz snarled and leapt forwards, the two women bolted away, or at least Manya bolted and Kailex practically threw herself behind a tree. The dragon snarled again at them and blew fire, setting the trees in a five meter radius on fire and forcing the two to run further away. "Run bitches!" he roared after them. Jerz then gently picked an unconscious Shuu up and flew off, leaving the two stranded in the middle of no where.
Manya ran out into the clearing that wasn't on fire. "HEY! Come back here!" she screamed as loud as she could. Kailex growled, and a stream of what could only be swear words poured from her mouth in that strange language. Manya narrowed her eyes at her, "would you just shut up!" she snapped. Kailex sombrely sat down a metre away from her, and muttered, hek meel ton? which the ranger could only guess meant: Well what now?
---- in a cave three hours later----
"...wha?"
Shuu blinked and sat up, rubbing his eyes. "I feel funny..." he yawned, almost showing his tonsils.
"You exerted yourself..." came Jerz's voice. "Jerz?" he blinked a few times before trying to stand up. "...aww...damnit...no wonder it feels like I just went through the change three times and matured over night..." he mused, and fell over. "Oww..." He rubbed his head where a bruise had suddenly appeared. "We at your place?" Shuu asked.
"Yes, I left those two bitches behind as well... I don't know why ever you were around them..." he growled, walking over and laying down on his belly, forearms crossed over. "Aww...don't be like that...they've never done dimension hopping before..." He yawned again, and a pair of red fox ears popped into existence on his head. "Aww, damnit! The glamour's going down..." He massaged one ear, ruffling his hair ferociously, and his braids clattered as the small green beads in them clanked together.
"Is Harna here? He could help reinforce my power so I can get the illusion up again..." Shuu wondered, tilting his head to one side. "Yes I am here, Jerz told me what happened," came Harna's smoother voice, he also walked out of one of the huge passage ways and lay down on his belly.
"Harna! Man, I missed you!" Shuu tried to tackle him the same way he tackled Jerz, but his strength hadn't recovered enough. "I can't believe I'm so weak! Last time I saw you, I took sixteen bullets to the chest and a grenade before I went down and even then, I was only slightly disorientated,” he grinned.
Jerz chuckled, "I remember that quite well," he grinned. "Now what are you doing here I wonder?" he asked. Harna spoke a word that carried great power quietly and Shuu's fox ears disappeared, "there you go," he smiled. "Thanks." Shuu yawned again. "I kinda...got lost?" he grinned weakly and swayed from side to side. "I don't feel so good..." he looked a bit dizzy for a moment, but it passed.
"You should rest more, i will search for a way to get you back to your own realm," Jerz murmured before standing up. Harna stood as well, turning and walking back down a dark passage way.
"Na! I have to help out Lexi and Man first...Hey...can you take me back there?" he asked, yawning again, and his eyes lidded halfway, obscuring his green irises. "Sleep Shuu, you MUST sleep," Jerz insisted. "We can help...'them' in the morning..." he growled before walking down the same passage as Harna.
"But..."Shuu yawned again, and Jerz swore he saw the diminutive redhead's tonsils. His eyelids slid shut, and he fell asleep. "Such a strange thing. He can be so strong one moment then as weak as a newborn kitten the next, mostly like that time 300 years ago when what we thought was a cold utterly wiped him," Jerz stated. Harna nodded, "yes, I remember that, very strange indeed..."
---- back in the woods ----
Dee rosh du can tee doon! Jeel mour port te doon! Kailex sang, obviously that blow to her head had done more damage than first thought. Manya groaned, "would you please just shut up!" she snapped. Kailex grinned maliciously at her and continued singing.
Manya scratched the back of her neck, a look of annoyance etching itself onto her face. "Oh, bloody funny," she muttered, looking up. "Thanks a bunch." Kailex snickered, yoon meerkan'mez loxen, she laughed. Kailex grinned at her again. Tur io herk keelmux? she asked, pointing up at the sky with a questioning look on her face. "I'm sorry," Manya said sweetly. "I don't speak gibberish.”
Kailex scowled at her, tyack! Dyack! Derag dyack! she snarled. Manya cocked her head to one side, still smiling sweetly. "Could we have the Common Tongue, please? Or I may just assume you're cursing my guts out and take the opportunity to laugh?"
Kailex tail snapped on the ground, dyack! Jek tindak! Hakta kon kez dyack! she screamed, eyes a flame. One shoulder rising and falling nonchalantly, Manya nodded. "Laughter it is, then..." She grinned up at the sky. "Dermek ythaska margett?" she called up to the clouds, already beginning to grin, and making no effort to restrain her growing need to laugh.
The ranger suddenly found herself pushed over with the former Goddess pinning her arms above her head, straddling her while her fangs grew long and sharp. Dyack! she screamed again.
Manya laughed hysterically, unable to stop herself. Once she had started, all the emotions that she'd been bottling up began to release themselves in the form of slightly manic laughter. Kailex's eyelid twitched and she snarled right in Manya's face, her lips pulled back over her dangerous teeth. Hakta kon! Hakta kon! she shrieked.
Manya, or the part of Manya still lucid, was beginning to worry. She literally couldn't stop laughing. Her laughter went on and on, and she was running out of breath. Her cheeks hurt, unaccustomed to smiling for so long, and... she couldn't breathe. Kailex snarled and shockingly, tears began running down her face, she left Manya laughing on the ground. The ex-goddess then spun away and ran off, trying to wipe her eyes clean with the backs of her hands.
Manya rolled onto her side, shaking - no, convulsing - with silent laughter, punctuated by the odd wheeze. Tears streamed down her face, tears of mirth... and pain. Kailex continued to run away until Manya found herself all alone. Manya's laughter was abating, and the wheezes were growing more and more frequent. "Shuu?" she managed to splutter. After a long pause she tried again. "Kai... lex?" Her chest was tightening, and her throat was closing up, and it suddenly occurred to her that dying laughing had never seemed so very literal...
There was no reply whatsoever, and Kailex was no where in sight, just a line of hurried footprints and several drops of moisture along them...
A tiny star suddenly appeared in the sky, to the total amazement of exactly no one, since everyone was currently otherwise occupied. The star began to grow. There were little black spots dotting her vision, like a virus eating away at a computer screen. Not that Manya knew what a virus, or for that matter, a computer, was, nor was she in any position to be thinking of similes.
Kailex looked up from the branch she had perched on, tears still in her eyes as she saw the star. Manya! Boorsha morks! she called loudly, pointing at the star. The star winked out of sight for a moment, and then began to move towards Kailex, growing larger with every passing moment. As it came level with her, a little girl appeared within the glowing ball. She giggled, and the bright light dissipated.
Gah! Kailex snarled from surprise and fell out of her tree, flailing before landing on the ground in a heap. The little girl laughed harder, floating lazily to the ground. She landed in front of Kailex and walked over to the prone form that was Manya. She frowned at it, nudging it with her toe.
Kailex shot up, deeja! Deeja! she growled, leaping at the child, trying to shoo her away. The little girl leapt out of range, and pulled a tongue at Kailex. "Tharnigk!" she said, walking over to Manya again. Kailex growled at her, "Manya?" she looked down at the ranger. "Manya!" she poked the ranger with her tail.
The little girl snatched Kailex's tail with superhuman speed, tugging it out of reach of Manya. She made a cheeky face at her, and then turned back to Manya. Touching her small hand to Manya's forehead, her own brow wrinkled in concentration. Kailex snarled at her, and just sat down, looking moody.
Slowly, Manya stirred. Opening one eye cautiously, she took in the scene. Judging it safe, she opened the other eye. She looked up at the little girl. "You broke the rules, you know. You're not allowed to do that." The little girl grinned. "Rules, nothing! Ha. They can keep their stupid rules, I can't let my Priestess die!" she cried. Kailex started, oon Hereest? Manya io fe Hereest? she asked, looking shocked. The Demoness suddenly burst out laughing. The little girl turned and glared at Kailex. "You have a problem with that, Demoness?" she asked dangerously.
Kailex grinned at her, oh necrem, Manya fe Hereest? she laughed. "As strange as it sounds, it's true," said Manya, sitting up and bringing her knees to her chest. She wasn't even going to contemplate how she understood Kailex. She vaguely supposed that being brought back from the dead must have some effect.
Kailex raised an eyebrow, and pointed at her mouth, xer ken J nem serpek English geine? she asked. "Probably not," sniggered the little girl, looking at Kailex with a calculating expression. Manya's eyes narrowed. "What did you do?" she asked the child. "Me? I am as innocent as a dove, Manny dear!" said the little girl, the words sounding strange in her small mouth.
Kailex whined, kelka gen ne! she cried, tail slapping against the ground sharply as her wings quivered. Manya started to get to her feet, but the little girl was there first. She put her hand on Kailex's arm and then giggled. "You're stuck!" she giggled again. "Stuck?" Manya's voice was flat, in a kind of 'tell me that you're joking or I shall go do some damage' way.
Kailex whined, het fsh J teyk uux grxsh mexe dert kennuak J hetall- URK! her voice stopped and she reverted to growls and snarling. The Demoness yipped in a shocked manner and grabbed at her throat, eyes wide. The little girl snarled and struck Kailex on the forehead. Had she not been a magical being, the blow would have done nothing but possibly enrage Kailex, but since she was, it spread a charm through Kailex, keeping her more animal side at bay. Kailex snarled at her, beshak kaa! she snapped. Her tail cracked like a whip again.
Manya blinked slowly, getting used to the feeling of life flowing through her veins. "It's true, I'm afraid," she said, not sure why she could understand Kailex's language. She supposed that bringing people back from the dead must have some... effects... She raised an eyebrow at the little Goddess, who pretended not to see it.
Kailex snarled, slashed at the ground, her sharp almost talon like nails leaving several gashes in it. Somehow, it brought the question to the Rangers mind of exactly WHO or WHAT was Kailex's 'wife'?
The girl-child skipped over to Manya. "So," she said conversationally. "You haven't told her about me. I'm hurt, Manya." Manya groaned. "Oh, you. Is this the time, really?" she asked tiredly. Kailex ignored the two and looked around for something to do, seeing a have buried stone protruding from the ground with a flat surface on one side she went over to it and sat down, using her tail blade to etch something into it.
The girl-child grinned at Manya. "I see your point." She floated over to Kailex and said in a sing-song voice that was much better suited to the body she inhabited. "What-cha doo-ing?" she asked. Kailex hardly batted an eye, nootresk.. she murmured. The figure she was drawing was obviously tall and had a slender frame, the outline of the body was obviously female. "Ooooh... lemme see! Lemme SEEEEE!" the girl whined. "Don't overdo it," grumbled Manya, getting clumsily to her feet and padding over to look over Kailex's shoulder.
The Demoness didn't seem bothered by them both looking over her shoulder, her tail kept tapping and scraping gently at the stone as the image of an elf woman became clearer. Her hair was long and nearly reached her waist, she had a lovely face as well, there was a small smile appearing on Kailex's mouth as she etched the drawing into the stone.
"Wow... you're go-o-o-o-o-o-o-od," said the girl-child, pulling a tongue in Manya's direction. "And, no, I am NOT overdoing it. So there." Manya rolled her eyes. "I am one nerve away from changing my religion, and you're getting on it!"
Kailex finished the drawing, having put final touches on it, clothing as well, certain features to the elf's hair and face. Keleria... she murmured. Manya held out a hand for the stone, and shot a 'be-quiet-or-else' look at the little girl, who pouted. The Demoness dug the rest of it out, chipping it off with her tail blade so it was just the drawing and placing it in Manya's hand.
"Thanks." Lifting the carving to her eyes, Manya studied the figure. After a few long minutes, she looked up. "Keleria... her name?" As she said that, an unimaginable pang jolted through her stomach, for a reason she couldn't put her finger on. Kailex nodded.
Manya handed the carving back. The little girl child put a hand to her mouth, uttering a tiny gasp of irritation. It sounded a little like, "He DIDN'T!", but you couldn't be sure. Kailex looked at it, no, she was gazing at it. Somehow, the Demoness seemed a lot less volatile than before, the carving seemed to... calm her down a bit.
The little girl suddenly looked furious. "He did!" she exclaimed in a voice that was the farthest thing from a child's. "The idiot! The imbecile! The utter MORON!" She clenched her tiny fists in anger. The Demoness blinked and looked at her, raising her eyebrows in question. Herk bursk? she asked, still in her own language.
"Oh... nothing." But the scheming look on the girl's face told a different story. Something was definitely wrong. Kailex scowled, yerx J! she pleaded now. "I'm doing, I'm doing," muttered the girl distractedly. Manya sat down next to Kailex. "She's... what you could call bargaining, I guess," she explained in an undertone."
Kailex sighed heavily and her wings dropped, this was getting tiring now...
After a long moment of silence, the little girl giggled in triumph. "Ha!" she said punching the air. Somewhere, a long way from anywhere, a small frog keeled over and died. But that has nothing to do with the story, so... yeah. Kailex raised an eyebrow and sighed again, grumbling something in her own language agitatedly. Manya ignored her, looking at the little girl. "And...-?"
Grinning, the little girl shrugged. "We can give her back her gift of tongues." Kailex sat up straight now, yirk? she inquired. The girl clapped her hands delightedly. "All you have to do... is kiss!" She went off into paroxysm of giggles. There was a weird feeling in Manya's stomach, which she ignored. "You're not serious," she said, her voice slightly hollow.
Kailex's eyes widened a bit, she looked briefly at Manya and then at the girl. The girl-child's giggles grew louder. "Am I never not utterly serious?" she asked, between howls of laughter. The demoness sighed and grumbled something again, myt her'skall xer'xurich boorsha'kanak... she muttered. Manya blinked, understanding that Kailex had just said something ironic; well I can kiss ever English again goodbye…
The little girl stopped laughing to briefly glare at the two of them. "Be nice. It was the only thing I could get without sacrificing a village or two. Yeesh, one kiss is worth saving a few thousand lives, right?" This last was directed at Manya. The girl-child was evidently under no illusions about who Kailex was. Kailex glared at her, k tash whee'brooke teyoonx! Ye dou! she pointed at Manya.
Manya sighed. "My head hurts from translating... I don't care. Get it over with." She looked at Kailex with a resigned expression, but inside, her stomach had just vacated its spot. Kailex sighed, terko'bo beshantae, she muttered. Leaning over she lightly kissed the ranger swiftly, pulling away quickly.
Manya stepped backwards, having understood Kailex's request of 'don't throttle me'. "I'll resist temptation," she muttered. Her stomach was back, and it was filled with butterflies. It was the oddest feeling she'd ever experienced. Besh- GAH! Dieish derakan! Derash boorco! the Demoness swore loudly and glared at the little girl who was nearly killing her self with laughter.
She looked up and grinned innocently. "Did I mention that it's kinda slow-acting...-?" she still grinned. Kailex glared, teer'mytx gouf'ferakm jeeresh moormek reetar'kanam? she growled, hands on hips. "Yes, actually it would if the kiss was longer," laughed the girl. Manya smacked her forehead. "You are so... infantile... sometimes!"
Kailex sighed, rubbing her eyes before she stepped forwards again, holding the sides of Manya's face before kissing her again. Manya jerked backwards at first, the kiss taking her by complete surprise, but Kailex's grip held her locked in the kiss. Slowly, oh-so-slowly, her widened eyes relaxed... and then closed. The Demoness’s tail unconsciously wrapped about the ranger's ankle, her tongue running along her upper lip, getting every-so-slightly carried away for some unexplainable reason.
The little girl sat up, her face serious, her light-blue eyes focussed on a patch of air above Kailex and Manya's heads that was, apparently, like every other patch of air. Kailex pulled away, but their noses were still touching. She looked Manya in the eye, there was something different about them, were they... changing colour again? They almost seemed to be turning... gold? Why gold…?
Has she cast an illusion on me... Kailex spoke. Or am I speaking English again? her voice was slightly breathy. Manya's cheeks had gone a faint shade of pink. She stared at Kailex blankly for a moment before pulling herself together. "Uh, yes, you are."
Kailex let go of her and took a few steps back, she swallowed before looking at the little girl. What are you looking at? she asked, her eyes were still tinged golden, her mind slightly fogged. "Me?" the little girl smiled innocently. "Oh, nothing."
The Demoness nodded and looked down at her hand were a silver ring with a sapphire set into it was. Somehow neither Manya or Shuu had noticed it before...
The little girl looked satisfied. She closed her eyes and, in another galaxy, a humanoid who went by the name of Lady Flames got a horrible headache. But that's irrelevant, isn't it? Kailex's eyes seemed to water and reverted to pale azure as she looked upon the ring, bringing her hand up and staring at it.
Manya looked from Kailex to the little girl, her brow furrowing. "Um..." She didn’t know what to say. Kailex closed her hand tightly, letting it fall to her side she looked at Manya. What now? she asked "Now?" The little girl shrugged. "I suggest you join... what did you call him? Shuu. But that's just a suggestion, mind. Far be it from to meddle..." she stated.
We do not even know WHERE he is! snapped the Demoness. She shrugged. "Not my problem, that." Manya put a hand on her hip. "Can someone please explain what just happened? Because I am lost." Kailex raised an eyebrow, what do you mean? she asked.
"The ring, the sudden lack of concern slash desire to meddle..." Manya looked pointedly at first Kailex and then the girl-child. Kailex looked at the ring again, its the ring Keleria gave me... she murmured. The Goddess looked slightly uncomfortable, she proposed to me with this ring... she murmured again.
Manya resisted letting her jaw drop. "Oh. Er. Then." That's awkward... "I guess I owe you, um, congratulations. Um." The Demoness looked at her, it is nothing new Ranger... we have been married for just over 50 Deiteerik years... she murmured still. (500 years)
Manya shifted her weight onto her left foot. The little girl suddenly found a rock on the ground extremely interesting. The Ranger cleared her throat uncertainly. "Uh... well... um... still, congratulations. Er..."
Kailex sighed, I just wish I knew she was safe... she growled. But instead i am stuck here wondering if Henral has slaughtered the rest of my army and- she choked on her words, covering her mouth with her hand as her eyes watered. Manya turned to the little girl. "Could you - "
"NO!"
"Please - "
"NO!"
"List - "
"I wont!"
"Just - "
"You can't make me!"
"Chahirali!"
Kailex raised an eyebrow, "what the-?"
"Fine... if you insist." The little girl pouted. Manya smiled. "Thank you." Kailex frowned, what? she asked, more than slightly confused. The little girl sighed. "I'll show you... what you wish to see."
The Goddess looked relieved now, you...you will show me Keleria? she asked, standing up, an open smile passing over her face. It was like someone had lit a fire inside her, like there was suddenly a roaring flame of life behind those silver eyes.
The little girl nodded reluctantly. "As she is, at this moment. But I can only show you briefly... Cross-dimensional is harder than future, okay!?" she added defiantly, hands shooting to her hips. Manya rolled her eyes. "Sure. Get on with it. I'm starting to feel nauseated."
Kailex nodded, alright... she murmured.
The little girl walked over to a depression in the rock that hadn't been there a few moments before and pulled a pebble from mid-air. She looked at it critically, took aim and tossed it into the depression. It sank through the ground, proving that anything is possible with belief, and the depression filled with a horribly still milky liquid. It looked like the milk that would come from Death's cow, if he had one.
The Demoness frowned slightly, what is that? she asked. "The Murky Waters Of Time," said Manya impassively, purposely inserting the capitals. It sounded a lot more impressive that way, somehow. The little girl rolled her eyes theatrically. "Oh, me."
Oh... uttered Kailex, surprisingly she didn’t sound very impressed. Manya grinned wolfishly. "Yes," she said, and with a sigh just as theatrical as the any the little girl could come up with, she patted Kailex on the shoulder, making a funny tingling run briefly into her fingers. "Well done. Most people pretend to be impressed in case I smite them with my handy Goddess-onna-stick."
"Resentfulness is radiating, simply radiating, out of your pores, did you notice?" she asked the little girl, smiling in a slightly drunk manner. The girl-child groaned. "Oh, me."
Kailex's pupiless eyes slide in her direction. I was there when the THREADS of the cosmos its self were being woven... she muttered in an almost bored tone. Seeing the liquid version is slightly less, how should i say, 'impressive?' she stated. The girl-child nodded. "Yes, I remember you. Slavering away with the rest of the Armageddon slash Chaos lovelies. Not that you could all see each other, what with the fact that that might have severely put a cramp in the whole space-time continuum, but anyway... I do remember." "Get on with it," drawled Manya, throwing herself down into a seated position, with all the grace of a fat beaver.
Kailex snarled at her, I was the one in the smart looking black armour! Only you could not see my face because of my helmet, I was standing next to one of the Cosmos Weavers. My twin is the one you saw, she is less dignified than I was at the time... she stated. "Just look already," the girl said, rolling her eyes. "I know who I saw. Thanks, though. I am rather proud of you for restraining the urge to drool, I must add before I forget."
Kailex had the expression of someone who had just been forced to eat a lemon. Fine... she growled, the ex-Goddess then looked at the milky white substance.
"Good beastie," said the girl delightedly, kicking the puddle so that droplets of the liquid splattered over Manya, who groaned. Where the liquid had landed on her armour, steam was starting to appear. Kailex decided to ignore that comment and continued looking at the milky substance. It darkened for a moment, and then across its surface began to unfold a scene...
An elf with pale lavender skin lay in a bed, but she looked sickly pale, her breathing extremely shallow. Her thin lips moved very slightly, "...kai...lex..." she breathed weakly. Another elf looked up, "Mistress Sharparrow..." he started, "The High Mistress... she disappeared during battle..." he stated, “we… many of us… saw her shatter as though made from glass…” he murmured. This female elf was obviously Keleria, her eyes widened, "Kailex!" she cried out, suddenly grasping at the air as though she could see the Goddess standing or floating there.
Kailex winced, she wanted to hold Keleria to make her feel safe, whisper to the elf that she was alright and would never leave. But she couldn't do that...
"I am sorry Mistress Sharparrow..." the soldier murmured before walking out, not sure how to deal with the sick elf. Keleria lay there for a few moments, trying to understand the fact that Kailex was very likely dead...
There was a pendant around her neck, sharp like an arrow head but with a cover over it so it did not cut her if it was not needed. The cover slipped off as Keleria's eyes glowed a subtle bronze and the point was directed at her throat. "Kailex..." she whispered, just as the point pierced her throat and Kailex screamed with horror it ended abruptly and the liquid turned white again.
Kailex shrieked with heartbreak and countless other emotions and grabbed the little girl hoisting her up into the air and snarling in her face. TAKE ME TO HER! she screeched, eyes burning red.
The little girl groaned. "I may be a Goddess," she said in a tone that brooked no argument. "But there are some rules even I must follow." She gently tapped Kailex's hands, which opened of their own accord, and floated back to the ground.
The Demoness's angered expression left her face, k-keleria... she murmured, trembling slightly. She fell to her knees, her eyes watering before tears streamed down her face and she let out a cry like a wounded beast. Keleriaaaaa! she moaned with anguish.
"It's always that drama, isn't it?" the little Goddess said dryly, ignoring the fact that Manya was looking a little peaky due to the fact that coming back from the dead and then having a very emotional moment is no fun at all for the system.
Kailex's jaw gritted hard and her eyes closed tightly, her fists clenched until her nails drew blood from her palms. Keleria... she breathed. Keleriaaaaa! she screamed, eyes opening, showing them a soulless black with no whites at all.
The little girl let her have her fun for another few minutes, and then coughed in that annoying polite way that just cannot be ignored. "I'll be off, then," she said brightly, and then ran over to Manya and leapt into the air to kiss both her cheeks. Manya's colour returned, and she smiled. "Hykma tu, mhu Gialhan." The little Goddess smiled lovingly. "Bibtha nuon, mhu Piressta."Kailex collapsed over and curled up into a tight ball, her sobs muffled by her wings, her tail no where to be see. The little Goddess floated over to her and smiled benevolently. "For one of my own kind, I can do little, Kailexanra." She knelt and gently touched Kailex's forehead with her own. "Be well. Time is short, but it will dull grief in its own way." And then she was gone, with none of the special effects that had precipitated her arrival. She just went from existing in the visual spectrum to... not.
Kailex shuddered, Keleria... she whimpered, the Demoness sounded like a weakened kitten crying for its mother...
Manya walked over to her, and sat next to her on the floor, silently offering her sympathy and support. Unnoticed by either of them, the puddle dried up, and a small grey pebble rolled into existence in its centre.
