i'd let you go into the wilderness

where you can be with your kind

maybe you'll make your way back to me

maybe (who knows)

freedom can suffocate like a well-worn noose

do you see what i mean?

and i won't come calling

just to throw you off

my skin, under barbed wire

pricked and red and bleeding

because it doesn't know what else to do.

like a rabbit i sent off

when i was seven years old

you aren't back yet

and my need is overwhelming

i succumb to my vices

because i don't know what else to do

i'm so brilliantly fucking weak (but you knew that already)

i do not want you to see

and how i didn't wish

i miss you when i look into those trees

with the foliage that spills murder

under the brush and the fresh snow

your tracks are lost to me.
