“Just leave me alone!” ‘Ashtin’ shouted, storming out of the room.
‘Aaron’ followed her, “I can’t do that,” he responded calmly.
“Why not?” she asked.
“Because… I love you,” he responded, kissing ‘Ashtin’ passionately on the lips. ‘Ashtin’ hesitated for a moment, before kissing ‘Aaron’ back on the lips. They then both kissed each other.
“And that’s a wrap!” the director Austin Del Rossi shouted, as Adam and I parted lips. We were on set for the hit TV show South Forest Drive, about a group of friends who are from ‘South Forest Street’ in this small for the first time, and what happens when they all leave the town and all it’s securities for the first time. Adam’s character ‘Aaron’ and my character, ‘Ashtin’ are good friends, and they just hooked up.
In reality, Adam is my best friend. We actually knew each other way before we both started acting on the show (we went to school with each other and were good friends when we were eight), but then my family and I moved when we were 10, but one the show started when were we 15, we met up again. He is now my best friend.
“Later!” Adam called, as he took off. He was going to find his skank of a girlfriend, Darcy. I’ve tried to warn Adam on her ways, but what do guys know about that stuff. It’s “hey, she’s hot!” or “look at her a$$!” Darcy has both the looks and the personality.
It’s actually a horrible one, if you ask me. So, what if she does have a good personality, I mean, she did get early acceptance to Harvard, but that’s beside the point. Or, maybe I just haven’t gotten over my childhood crush on him, yet.
“Cambria, Harper! Your free to go!” Austin shouted to us.
I went and changed out of costume and into my regular swim team sweatshirt, jeans, and flip- flops. I then took out my contacts, and exchanged them with my glasses that were in their case in my purse. I really can’t stand contacts, but they said that they didn’t really suite ‘Ashtin’s’ characters very well, and that they glared on the screen. I did that, before grabbing my purse and leaving the dressing room.
I then went out to the parking lot, and waited for Adam to appear.
He’s not only my best friend, but my neighbor too, so we car- pull when our shooting schedules allow.
Anyways, Adam had finally showed up into the parking lot. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair was messed up, and he also had this goofy smile on his face.
“Hava hot make- out session?” I asked, leaning up on Adam’s jeep.
“What makes you think that, Haven?” he asked.
“Easy,” I replied, “you deny things when you know that it’s the truth,”
“But I’m not denying things, now am I?” he questioned as we both hopped in his black jeep, and he started his car.
“Um… yeah you are. No need for denying it,” I said as Adam pulled the car out of the parking lot.
“I never happened!” Adam said furiously, swiveling the car through the busy LA traffic.
“It did!”
“No it didn’t!”
“Yes it did!”
“No it didn’t!”
“Yes!”
“No!”
Adam and I went back and forth, bickering like that until he parked his jeep in front of his house, and we were both through our front doors. Finally, we both stopped once we were inside our houses.
“Major flirting with Adam?” my sister Halyn asked, just as the front door was finally shut.
I gave Halyn a look back.
“Okay, okay! I’m sorry!” she said raising her hands up. That’s another thing about Halyn, she knows everything there is to know about me. I know everything about Halyn as well.
I have 7 brothers and sisters. Halyn is older than me by ten minutes, then there’s me Haven, then 3 minutes after me is Hardy. Halyn is the outgoing one, the queen bee at school; she also loves to sing, and has a contract with a major record label in Hollywood. Hardy’s the easygoing smart guy that every girl wants; he likes baseball, and I’m the quiet one of the group, and of course I like to act. We’re 17.
Anyways, after us came Ian, the joker, he’s 15, a pain in the ass usually, and a heart- throb. Isaac at 14 is the smart one. Most of his time is spent reading and doing schoolwork. Belle at 12 is the beauty, true to her name; she is friendly, and also dances with a prestigious dance company. Blair at 10 is the rebel of out family; he lives for video games and baseball. Lastly, is the ‘baby’ Adeline, who’s 9. Adeline is our angel, and is following in Halyn and my footsteps, and loves to perform.
Halyn, Hardy, and I have a different Dad than the others. We see him a decent amount, whenever out schedules allow. That’s usually about 2 times a month. Our step- dad Jake is the father of the others.
Halyn and I made our way to our room. We share our room (which is actually the basement) with Belle and Adeline, but there’s a sheet that divides Halyn and my half from their half.
The boys also shared a room, and finally Mom and Jake share a room. Our house isn’t actually that big. I mean, as famous as Halyn, Adeline, and I are, our house definitely doesn’t show it.
“Okay. So… what’s the latest on set?” Halyn asked sitting cross- legged on her bed.
“Ugh. It’s Darcy this, Darcy that!” I exclaimed, sitting on the end of my sister’s bed, cross- legged as well. “I sure hope that your romantic life is going better than mine,”
“Not great,” Halyn said looking down, “I think that Otto might be cheating on me,”
“That----“ Halyn cut me off.
“Yeah, I know. Otto’s asshole, but I’m, scared Hav. He was so sweet at first, but then his friends kept making him make- out with me in public and crap. I mean, he was the first guy that I’ve trusted since Rollin,”
“You have every to be scared,”
“I know, but remember how Rollin got really mad when I tried to break up with him. Rollin used to beat me Haven, you know that,” Halyn said, as her eyes welled up with tears, and they flew down her face.
I wrapped my arm around my sister, as her head fell into my lap, and I slowly rocked her back and forth.
“Tell you what,” I began, “how about Hardy and I are near by when you break- up with Otto. Do it at the Seaside Café, Hardy and I can be at a table nearby incase anything happens.”
“Okay…” Halyn said sheepishly, rubbing her eyes, and wiping away her tears.
“Come on,” I grabbed her hand, “let’s go get Hardy from baseball,”
We went into Halyn and my boring black Honda, and drove to the park; Halyn and I found Hardy with his bat and glove, in his green, black, and white baseball uniform.
“Hardy! Come on!” I called over to my brother who was talking and joking with his friends.
“Man, you’re sisters are hot!” one of Hardy’s friends exclaimed.
“Shut up, man!” Hardy snapped at him.
“What, they are!”
“Don’t you ever say that bout my sisters!” Hardy said poking his friend in the gut several times while he was snapping at his friend.
Halyn and I walked up to Hardy, just as he finished snapping at his friend.
“Later man!” Hardy said to his friend, as we walked the other way, heading towards the parking lot.
“So, we’ll just follow Halyn and Otto at a distance, and make sure that nothing happens,” I said, as Halyn and I explained our plan to Hardy.
“Kay,” Hardy replied, just as two girls turned towards us; one who looked our age and another girl who looked maybe 12. They looked like sisters.
“Oh my G-d! It’s Halyn Cambria!” the younger girl said, or should I say squealed in delight.
“And that’s Haven Cambria!” the older one said, equally as delighted.
Although Halyn and I are identical, we are very easily told apart.
We both have layered chocolate hair, but mine goes just past my shoulders and is solid brown, while hers goes down her back, and has blonde highlights in it. We also both have naturally brown eyes, but I’m always wearing my glasses (unless I’m filming or something), while Halyn wears contacts in different colors (usually blue). We are the same height, but our dressing styles are way different. I’m happy in my jeans and sweatshirts, with just some light make- up, while Halyn wears lots of miniskirts, tight shirts, and heavier make- up.
“So… can we have your autographs?” the two girls grinned.
“Sure,” Halyn replied, giving the girls a sad smile. Or just her regular star smile, but in her eyes I could see sadness. Hardy and I are the only ones who ever can.
“Sure,” I said echoing Halyn, as the older girl handed me a notepad and a pen. I gladly signed her pad of paper, as Halyn signed her younger sister’s pad.
“Here we go,” I said as I handed the pad of paper back to the older girl.
“Thanks!” the girl thanked me.
“Your welcome,”
“Bye!” the girl and her sister turned around to wave, when the older girl paused. “Is that you guy’s brother?” she asked.
“Yup!” Halyn responded.
“Can I have your autograph?” she asked Hardy.
“Yeah, sure,” Hardy said, taking the pad of paper from the older girl. He then handed the pad back to the girl, and the girl let out a loud squeal.
“Thanks!” she yelled, as her and her sister walked away, whispering one another.
Halyn and I looked over at Hardy and noticed that he was blushing; we then looked at each other, and began to chant simultaneously.
“Hardy’s got a cru- ush! Hardy’s got a cru- ush! Hardy’s got a cru- ush!”
“Shut up!” Hardy murmured. “You girls can act like such children sometimes,”
Halyn and I shrugged him off, as we got in the back seat of the car.
Just to get back at us, Hardy made sure and made crazy turns and purposely drive bad, just so that we would freak out.
We finally arrived at the Seaside Café, which is this small restaurant in the suburbs of LA, California. Hardy and I dropped Halyn off at the front, and we went to find a place to park. Otto was to meet Halyn at there; she had up on him picking her up 3 weeks into dating.
We parked in the small parking lot, and made out ways inside the café. We spotted Halyn and Otto sitting together at a table on the left side; they were chatting. Hardy and I each ordered out drink, and made our way to a booth in the back, where we had a good view of Otto.
“Otto,” Halyn said, “I don’t think that we are working,”
“Why babe?” he asked innocently.
“Why don’t you tell me?” she asked.
“Babe I-----“
“Don’t even start!” Halyn yelled. She was sometimes to smart for her own good.
“I don’t---“
“Oh, yes you do! Tell me about Jessica!”
“Jessica had noth---“ Otto started speaking, but then realized what he was saying.
“Go on! Tell me about her!” Halyn demanded.
“We met at one of Ashley’s party’s. Danced together, neither one of us had dates; it was harmless then, really. And so, I kept trying to keep her off my mind, but kissing you more, but nothing could keep her off of my mind. We then started seeing each other at various places, and before long things got deeper and deeper-----“
Otto was about to continue, but Halyn cut him off.
“You scumbag,” she said shaking her head with disgrace, as she got up from her seat, and walked away.
Otto followed her, “Honey, baby, Boo, come on, I’m sorry,” he said grabbing her upper- arm. “Come on,” he said pulling her towards him.
“No.” Halyn said standing her ground. “We’re over Otto. Goodbye.”
And with that, Halyn walked out of the Seaside Café, and let the door swing back and forth, as the bell jingled, until it closed.
Hardy and I quickly followed Halyn out of the restaurant. We found her leaning up against our car, with a few tears in her eyes. Halyn, usually wasn’t much of a crier, our parents always ignored us if we cried, but even so we all cry and at sometime. And today was just not Halyn’s day.
“Come on,” I said, wrapping my arm around my sister, “let’s go home,”
The ride home was silent, but once we arrived home, things erupted into the usual chaos. Hardy and Halyn went to the den, while I went to the kitchen to get Halyn’s comfort food, that no doubt she would need; Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.
“Haven, it’s your day to watch Belle, Blair, and Adeline,” my mom said rushing around, looking for something. “Have you seen my keys, honey?” she asked lifting a mess of papers up.
“Ian!” I yelled. Ian was 15, and he had just gotten his learners permit.
“What?” Ian yelled from his room
“Where are Mom’s keys?”
“I dunno!” Ian said, with this tone is voice, as he revealed a set of keys from his pocket.
I stuck my hand out for Ian to drop the keys in, but he didn’t do it.
“Can I have the keys?” I asked him.
“No,” Ian said raising the keys above his head. Even though he’s younger than me, Ian towers me by a good 4 inches.
“Mom needs the keys Ian!” I shouted to him.
“Well then, why doesn’t Mom come and get them?”
“Give me the damn keys, now!” I shouted, grabbing the keys from Ian, and going back to the kitchen to my mom.
“Here’s the keys, Mom,” I said handing my mom the keys.
Mom looked at me graciously, “Thank you, Hav. Now Jake is supposed to be home at 7, dinner looks like we’re going to be eating out again! But, I don’t have any cash!” Mom started freaking out, as she does every day.
My works two jobs, you see, one morning/ part of the afternoon job at a doctor’s office, and another job at a 24-hour clinic downtown from 6PM- 12AM everyday.
“Just calm down, Mom,” I told my mom, giving her an encouraging hug, “I’ll take care of dinner and everything. You just go to work,”
“What would I do with out you?” she asked, kissing me on my forehead, and grabbing her keys and coat before leaving the house.
I then grabbed the Ben and Jerry’s from the freezer, and made my way to the den, where Hardy and Halyn were camped on the floor, looking at movies.
I noticed that Halyn had picked up Season 1 of South Forest Street.
“Aww man! Guys, do we have to?” I moaned.
“Yes!” Halyn exclaimed, as I handed her the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, and Hardy popped in the DVD. I went to sit on the couch and take a break before starting dinner, when Adeline called me.
“Haven!” Adeline called from another room.
“Yeah Addie?” I asked, getting up, and going to see what Adeline was fussing about.
“I can’t do this problem!” she cried, waving a paper full of multiplication and division problems in my face.
Okay, let’s go to the dining room table,” I suggested, taking Adeline’s homework, and pushing a couple piles of paper away, in order to make room for her homework. I had just set Adeline’s homework down, when the doorbell rang.
Ding- Dong! Ding- Dong! Ding- Dong!
“I’ll get it!” I shouted, as I made my way to the front door. I then opened the door to find a buff man, with black hair, who looked about forty years old.
“Can I help you, sir?” I asked, looking down at Adeline who was snuggling her head into my side.
“Yes, you can,” the man said flatly, “I am looking for my child, a boy named Hardy,”
A/ N: Alright, I have written fiction before, but I don't usually have the guts to post a lot of it. Anyways, please review and tell me what you thing and/ or how I can improve this story!
