After being together for a couple months short of a year, Travis and I broke up… again. Same reason. He’s got too much on his plate and says he just needs a break. I insisted that he not push me away, try to protect me from getting caught up in his issues, but he insisted on saving me from his problems and won’t let me help. All I want is to be there for him. If he can’t handle a girlfriend right now, so be it. But I’m his best friend too. I wish he would at least let me be there for him as his friend, because that’s what was so special about us—we’re always there for each other.

At any rate, he decided he needed time off late Friday night, and after much crying on both sides, he finally went home. (“I really don’t want to break up. I’m doing this for you!”)

We’d been apart for two weeks (I think) when I wrote this song. I had been busy all week with college stuff, but when my roomie left to go home for the weekend, I was left with lots of alone time.. lots of time to think about stuff I’d rather forget.
