You’re asleep now like all foxes,
And the night climbs into bed with me.
Notes fly about the floor, and the words
I pressed out of your heart lie splattered,
But silent. I’ll watch for some time,
Before I wake you up. That’s all it was ever about.
So breathe through the curtains
And I’ll muffle the sound,
And I’ll twist each scream you never made
Into little red flowers
That I’ll throw over your face.
