Always “Goodbye” before they could flow

I never had faith in the speed of time

I don’t know how I could have let you go

The words with life were the ones to drop slow

Drowning in cowardice, down they fell

Always “Goodbye” before they could flow

I shut my mouth and I reap what I sow-

You kiss her as if you never will again

I don’t know how I could have let you go

Standing on the sidelines, watching you grow

I prayed for strength, I prayed for some mercy

Always “Goodbye” before they could flow

Together in the car, tin cans in tow

Taping “Just Married” signs on the window

I don’t know how I could have let you go

We both grow old and all my hopes sink low

Go tell her you love her- don’t let it be

Always “Goodbye” before they could flow

I don’t know how I could have let you go
