What you don’t know

You’ll never really understand that it isn’t always about you.

Other people can come out on top.

Other girls will get the hot guy.

Other girls will make head cheerleader.

It’s not like your life is going to end.

It’s ok for her to win sometimes too,

And trust me, losing isn’t always bad

But you don’t seem to understand that.

Seems to me, that you think the world should stop when you say so.

It should rain on your command,

The sun should shine at the clap of your hands,

And snow the very second your fingers snap.

I have news for you though.

The world doesn’t revolve around you.

Sometimes you’ll get hurt.

You may even shed a few tears.

Things aren’t as easy as they seem.

You can’t just say something and make it true.

People will know when you’re lying,

And if they don’t they will find out.

I see you everyday.

I watch you bend people to your will,

I watch you lie to your closest friends without batting an eyelash,

And I watch as everything falls into place for you.

One of these days you’re going to learn.

Your whole world will come crashing down around you.

And only you will be left to pick up the pieces,

Because you’ve hurt everyone who cared about you.

And I’ll be watching then too,

Only this time,

I won’t be there,

To catch you when you fall.
