Melt the Ice
What an entrance you made,
Acting all smooth and slick.
At that party you didn’t need any aid,
Since you had your own trick.
Smile – that was all you had to do,
But you just had to turn that smile on to me.
You knew you were my catch-22,
But you also knew a way to set me free.
For years I did my best to avoid you,
Since I was shy to be in your company for long.
We would talk when I was blue,
And you were always there and always strong.
I didn’t know how but we were soon left alone,
With nothing to say and nowhere to go.
You had made them leave and now I was on my own,
I didn’t know there was something I needed to know.
It wasn’t long before you were by my side,
You smiled at my nerves, and asked if I wanted to sit down.
I shook my head no, but knew I had lied,
But we sat anyway, your face in a frown.
You looked so hurt and I knew why,
So I blurted out how I felt in simple words.
When your eyes widened I had to sigh,
I thought our time was over – you had heard.
I blushed; you did the same and turned away,
When you faced me again your eyes had changed.
And then you did something I’ll never forget to this day,
You kissed me, and no longer was I caged.
What a way to melt the ice.
