Cold Tracks

By: Danny Dodger

Just another second to one more hour and a new day

It’s time to play dress up and cover the bruised cheeks

Glance in the honest mirror as the hurt is rinsed away

Take one more breath to suffer the sting in the torso

No matter how much damage is done still wear a smile

But nothing can conceal the sorrow in those eyes

The elongated sighs are herd as coffee is sipped

The quivering hands are felt as files are passed

Being alone is such a daunting task to accept

Then to question existence in it’s self exposed

Sip the brandy in the glass as strangers forget

Walk along an alley take a twirl stop dead

Will they remember the girl with the shiner

The one that ate dinner in a cafeteria

No they won’t remember her because

She was just another girl

To one more being

And a new loss
