(A/N: This was a thing I wrote at... well, not it's 9:51 PM and I've been awake for twenty-nine hours straight, going on thirty! Wahoo! I rock... totally. But I was bored and typed this up... Sugar rushmade me do it... I think... I'm too asleep to notice. Tell me what you think it a review! I love reviews... I mean, who doesn't?)

It was dark outside; the moon was full and the air was cold. Five kids sat around a campfire, roasting marshmallows and throwing twigs into the large fire. They were deep in the woods, in a clearing they had made. It was just big enough for the five of them to sit around the glowing fire pit.

“Jet, make sure the ‘rents are asleep,” one girl whispered. She wore Timberland boots and a pair of dark jeans that were much too long. For a shirt, she had on a tight-fitting vintage rock-and-roll t-shirt. The boy she was talking to was wearing a black t-shirt and cargo pants. The two of them were identical twins, well, as identical as twins of the opposite sex can get while looking straight. Both had brown hair; the girl’s was curly and she was wearing a baseball hat that was too big, and the boy had a crew cut thick with his curly hair.

“Come on Lily,” the boy named Jet whined. “They’re your parents too. I don’t wanna walk all the way to the house alone. It’s a boring walk.”

“Kendra will be waiting there for you,” another girl said with an evil grin on her face. She wore a pair of baggy sweatpants and a green long sleeved-shirt. On her head was an ultra-bright green bandana that covered her dirty blonde hair.

“Shut up Christy. I don’t like Kendra and you know it!” Christy made a face at him and mumbled something. “That’s just a rumor!”

“Jet, just go home. I mean, it’s only a five minute walk. You see if the lights are on and then walk five minutes back here,” Lily said.

“No, send one of your friends to do it!” Jet was a stubborn boy, almost as bad as she was. Lily looked around the fire, wondering whom he wanted her to send. All of these people were his friends too.

“I can’t; if they’re up they’ll get mad. Thanks to you, they think we’re hanging out at Christy’s house. We’re not supposed to be out here, remember? If you go, they’ll just think you’re bored.” Jet huffed and walked off, his hands jammed into his pocketed.

“Let’s go for a walk,” a boy suggested. He had short, spiked black hair and wore a pair of black jeans with a long cloak-like leather jacket and a blue shirt under it.

“Crispin, shut up; we’ve gotta wait for Jet to get back. I wanna go to the park.”

“I know a shortcut,” he said smiling evilly.

“No offense buddy,” the other girl said, “but your shortcuts are never short, and they’re often dangerous.” This girl had blue streaks through her blonde hair and it was tied into a ponytail. She was wearing a pair of cutoff jeans and a plain white t-shirt.

“Ally, don’t worry about it. My mom showed me this one when I was, like, two. It’s safe, she didn’t go anywhere dangerous,” he said. His face was grim; his mother had died when he was four from cancer. She’d been fighting it for almost three years and had a bout strong enough to kill her. “She couldn’t go anywhere dangerous…”

“We can go there,” Christy said eating the last marshmallow. Jet reappeared out of breath and dropped down to the ground, panting as he tried to catch his breath. “That is, unless we have to go to a hospital because Jet dies of course.”

“I know a shortcut to get there too,” Crispin said still smiling. The girls rolled their eyes at him. Crispin didn’t go to school because there was no one to tell him to. His dad had run off when his mother died. Crispin was alone. He spent all of his time walking through the woods and around the outskirts of town.

“The damn dogs attacked me again!” Jet said. The girls laughed and Crispin rolled his eyes. “But mom and dad were sound asleep. We’re safe.”

“Good,” Lily said jumping to her feet. “I wanna go on the swings.”

“You’re weird like that,” Ally said.

“Swings are fun, but making up go out in the freezing cold so you can go on them for ten minutes is ridiculous!” Christy added.

“And your point is…?” Lily said making hand motions and trailing off. “We’re still going.” She began tossing sand onto the fire and it seemed to hiss madly at her. She grabbed a stick and put it in the hot coals, then pulled it out as it caught. She stomped out the rest of the fire and walked off, leading the group with her stick.

“She’s a crazy pyro,” Christy mumbled.

“Better than being the school’s biggest flirt,” Jet said.

“I’m not a flirt! I can’t help it if people think I am though! And she doesn’t need to flirt; I mean; if I had a boyfriend I wouldn’t either.”

“Okay guys, just shut up please,” Ally said.

“Hey, go this way,” Crispin said heading off the path and through thick bushes.

“Yuck, I just got mud in my sneakers!” Christy said.

“Learn to deal with it,” Lily said, “I had to put my torch out!”

“Well ‘Boy of the Darkness’ is your boyfriend, your fault,” Ally said; she sounded like she was having a hard time getting through the thick underbrush and scraggily trees in the dark.

“Ally, why is it that you’re always calling me the ‘Boy of the Darkness?’ I never got that one.” Crispin asked from ahead of them. “Come on, it’s only a little further until we’re out of the woods.”

“Look at how you dress! It’s like an episode of Angel or Buffy gone wrong!” Ally said.

“I don’t think I’m a vampire, so stop calling me that!”

“Okay kiddies,” Jet said when they came to a clearing, “stop the bickering.”

“You sound like grandpa,” Lily told him.

“I was kidding,” he mumbled. The five of the stood there in the clearing, waiting for Crispin to lead them to the park; it was his shortcut after all.

“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Ally said, sarcasm was thick in her voice. “Crispin, how fitting is this? You led us to a fricking cemetery!”

“So what’s your point?” Christy asked.

“Are you dense? ‘Boy of the Darkness’ led us to a cemetery! It just proves my point!” If you looked through the mist that veiled the ground, you could see tombstones dotting the cemetery.

“So if I take a walk in a cemetery, I’m automatically a vampire?” Jet asked.

“No,” Ally said angrily and sounded annoyed, “let’s just go to the damn park. I hate cemeteries!”

“Let’s go Crispin,” Christy said yawning, “I wanna get home right after Lily’s had her fill of the swings.” They started to walk though the tombstones. They were all very old; Civil War era old. In fact, the dates were all from during the Civil War. Christy pointed this out.

“Guys, we already passed this stupid tombstone,” Jet said. It was getting cold out and the grass was soaked with dew and the beginnings of frost.

“No way,” Crispin said, “don’t even think that I’m lost. I never get lost.”

“There’s a first time for everything,” Ally pointed out.

“Shut up,” Lily said, “Crispin, are you lost?” He was silent as they walked. “Crispin, answer me!”

“Yes, of course I’m lost! This stupid cemetery is so confusing to me! I’ve been through here before, but I don’t know… I was with my mom then. I just remembered this place because tomorrow’s the fucking anniversary of her death! It’s been ten years since I had anyone I could call my parent. I’ve been alone for ten fucking miserable years!” The others stood there, mouths open in shock, at Crispin’s sudden outburst. He looked away and resumed walking.

“How do you get lost in a cemetery?” Jet asked. Lily shot him a look.

“Let’s follow our footsteps out of here,” she suggested.

“I tried that, we ended up in the middle of the cemetery. We always do. It’s like there’s a force sending us back to the start whenever we try to leave…”

“So we’re lost in here? We’re all gonna die?” Ally asked in mock fright. The sarcasm was heavy as she spoke, ruining it; the smile gave her away as well.

“I dunno guys. But we’re stuck in here.” Crispin said. The kids all stopped and stared. They all ran for the forest edge and ended up back where they were previously standing. Crispin shrugged sadly. “At least we’re all together, right?” Tears rolled down Lily’s cheeks.

“This was your plan then,” Ally said. “Get us here, get us stuck, and then kill us!”

“Yeah,” Crispin said sarcastically, “I’m a vampire, boo! Now I’m stuck here too though, my plan backfired.” He smiled menacingly. “And too bad that’s the truth…”
