A/N: HAH I updated! Hey guys. I hope you liked the previous chapter. Well, I’ve been receiving a few criticisms from my peers (irl) about this story, so I’ve decided to try a different writing style in this chapter. So as not to offend… (D’you guys detect the sarcasm?)

Anyway, tell me your comments, coz I love reading them (flames are accepted; if not welcomed) and they do give me the inspiration to continue this story. Well, here are my responses to the previous reviewers (thanks to all of ya!):

Outlaw-02: Okay, sorry if I overused the OMG thing. I suppose I got carried away... After all, turning into the opposite sex is plain OMG all the way! But thanks for reading and commenting, anyway...
Niki Tori: Thanks, Niki! I really appreciate all your reviews... they motivate me to write more! Oh and thanks for checking out the comic version of FLUNK... Much respect!
Paliana: Thanks for the kind words! I've made a web comic of my own... So i hope you continue yours! (And oh, sorry, there's no Kyo in this chapter...)
Riku: I think that Riku can also be a girl's name. Especially in Japan!
Derek: Aw, thanks a lot, D! I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Ken: Oh, it's okay if you printed it and all that, but PLEASE don't reproduce it under other people's name! I mean... That's kinda harsh now, don't you think? Anyway, I'm glad you liked the story, and I hope you like this chapter too!
Hiro: Hey! Thanks for reading this! Much appreciated.
Keahi: It's a similar story to Pink Gender, alright, but on the whole, both are still oh-so-different. So... I don't think that calls for a lawsuit. XD... And don't worry, I didn't steal your ideas or something...

Okay then. Sorry for the drag, and onward with the story!

Chapter 6 – Sanctuary in the Bathroom

I felt faint one particular morning; my insides feeling like mush and my consciousness wobbly. I rolled on the bed and covered my head with my pillow, yawning underneath the covers while I waited for Kyo to barge into my bedroom (as usual) and scream like a hellion, trying his damndest to wake me up for school. I mentally counted the days off in my head. Fifteen days. Fifteen days had passed by since I turned into a female.

So much for my theory of all this being a nightmare.

Two weeks had passed, and I was finally feeling at ease with my new body. Well, I still cringe every time I take a shower, and the manner of sitting down while peeing is still kinda weird to me; but, overall, I could at least say that I was getting along with life pretty well. Granted, the people in my environment were the ones to change the most… Ma’s still hush-hush about the whole transformation thing and never brought it up again at the dinner table, but she did treat me a bit more like a daughter than a son for the past few days. Kyo was still – well, stupid, I doubt anything would ever pierce that thick skull of his.

At school, though, I might say that Riku Kawayi had made a lot more impression on the students than Kentoshi Narusana had. For one, my grades totally picked up, and (believe it or not) I was able to join the Supreme Student Government in Yutaka High. Which meant that I got to spend more time with Shiza (cheers!) and more time with my new best friend Mirasol.

Wondering about Onisuke? Well, admittedly, he was the flaw in my current existence as a girl. Never mind the fact that I’d see him with Shiza a lot more often than I would permit; that I could live with under the current circumstances. But, he had been constantly floundering me for dates and private basketball lessons that there were times when I was so pissed I’d nearly kicked his own balls off. Freak.

Of course, I had been ignoring him for the last two weeks of my new life as Riku. Besides, though I hate to admit it, Mirasol is a better friend than him. At least she was fun and witty to talk to, with no fan boys and girls regularly humping her for autographs and stuff.

Gr. Summed up, my new life, to boot, was interesting.

“Kentoshi!! Wake up and get your size 34 ass to the bathroom!” Just on cue, Kyo barged into my room, his red hair spiked up with gel. He rolled his eyes dramatically when he saw me still lying on the bed and stuck a spoonful of cereal into his mouth. “Ysh bttrsh hrsh ph, Kensh, ysh dnsh wnsh mh emrsh tsh shrsh bxh.” (You better hurry up, Ken, you don’t want me emptying the cereal box.)

I sat up groggily in bed, waving Kyo out of my room. “Yeah, yeah, Kyo. Get outta here.”

Kyo slammed the door back in place and I heard his footsteps echo down the stairs.

I reluctantly got up from the bed and made my way slowly to the bathroom. Suddenly, I felt a bit nauseous, and I clutched the sink for support. What was happening to me? I collapsed on the toilet seat and drew in a shaky breath. It felt so weird… as if my dinner last night protested inside my tummy. Plus the fact that something was… just wrong.

I got ready to pee… When something on the seat of my pajamas caught my eyes. RED. Oh…my… Was this blood? Am I…? But… Impossible!

One word came out of my mouth then (or was it even a proper word?) “AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!”

“Hey, Riku!”

I stopped walking and turned a bit to the bespectacled girl who was calling my name. Panting slightly, Mirasol finally reached me and gave me a small smile. I reached out my hands to take her books, and she extended them to me with a grateful smile.

“Good morning, Mira.”

Magandang umaga rin!” She grinned at me, and we began walking towards our first period. I was correct in my first assumptions that she wasn’t full-blooded Japanese. She came from the southeastern Philippines, and her family had just migrated to Japan a few months before. Her Filipino heritage showed in her smooth, tanned skin and her dark brown doe eyes, so unlike that of the common Japanese people.

Mira had taken a knack for speaking in her own language in front of me, and she had begun teaching me a few words, too. (I used them against Kyo, who was too stupid to understand even if I gave context clues).

We walked to our classroom, talking about random things; me wobbling slightly (due to the tampon Ma demanded I “wear” earlier). As we entered our room, I immediately felt a pair of eyes on me. Then, the telltale cologne…

“Hi, Riku-chan! How are you today?”

I shot a bored look up at Onisuke’s grinning face and shrugged. “Ayos lang, pakialam mo ba?”

I caught Mira’s thumb-up sign from the corner of my eye. Oni looked confused. “Uh... I’ll just see you later, okay? Bye, then.”

I burst into a giggle when Oni left. Thank you, Mirasol!

“Well then, class. You may all begin.”

I turned to the frowning girl in front of me and shot her a small smile. “Let’s get started then, Shiza-san?”

Shiza nodded and stiffly sat down on the lab bench, putting on her white gloves. I beamed mentally. It was Advance Chemistry and Shiza and I were paired up as lab partners! Which means I get to spend a total of 90 minutes with my beloved. Talk about LUCK!

“Riku, stop daydreaming and let’s get down to business.” Shiza’s voice cut into my thoughts and I sat down beside her, savoring the moment. (AH! Sharing a bench with my Shiza!)

We began adding the chemicals to the beaker and I started heating up the Bunsen burner when Shiza abruptly ordered me to turn it up more.

“What? But, Shiza-san, the instructions said 70 degrees Celsius. Do you think—“

“I know what I’m doing, okay?” she snapped, “I’ve read the textbook twice already, unlike you. Turn it up more. More!”

I shrugged and followed her order, cranking the knob until the mixture inside the beaker was bubbling like crazy. “Shiza-san, don’t you think it might—“

CRACK!

Shiza screamed as the beaker burst, the chemicals inside it spilling on the lab table and gathering flames. Our classmates crowded around us as I grabbed my bag, emptied its contents on the floor and tried to extinguish the fire as fast as I can.

Someone took a fire extinguisher and let it off on the table, dousing the flames. When the smoke cleared, all that was left of our table was a big sloppy mess and me standing beside it, covered in white goop.

“MISS KAWAYI!”

Gulp. I slowly turned to the scowling teacher. “Ma’am, Shiza-san, she – she...”

“Sensei, I told her to turn it off, but she didn’t listen to me!”

What the—

“But, Shiza-san, you were the one who—“

Shiza looked at me, her face contorted into a sad look, tears already welling in her eyes. “And now you’re accusing me, Riku? You just think you’re everything because you’re the new girl and all!”

I was speechless then. All I could do while the teacher dragged me outside was stare at Shiza and think about the laboratory fiasco. How the tears had seemed so real, how everyone had believed her, how she twisted the story to make me the culprit—

And as I shot one last look at her pretty face, a small smirk now evident on her flawless features, I was flooded with doubt.

Was this even the Shiza I loved?

I dragged my feet on the pavement, my thoughts still preoccupied with the earlier events, when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up, ready to run away should it be Onisuke, and then sighed in relief when I saw Mirasol’s face.

“I heard what happened in your Advance Chem class, Riku... It was traveling all around the campus this afternoon.”

“Yeah. I suppose Shiza told everyone what I had done.” Bitterness filled my voice as I said my crush’s name.

Mirasol patted me gently on the back. “Don’t worry about her. She’s a gossipmonger, but she loses interest fast.”

“But it wasn’t my fault! It was her who ordered me to turn the heat up, even with my protests she wouldn’t listen.”

Alam ko. I know, Riku. It wasn’t your fault. I’ve never been too close with her before myself. She seems really sweet and pretty on the outside, but she’s actually got the cunning of a fox inside. I’ve been blamed for her mistakes before, too... And like a fool, I allowed myself to be used... Over and over again.”

Mirasol smiled at me sadly, her eyeglasses making her eyes appear bigger. “But that won’t happen again, and you know why?”

I shook my head slowly, entranced by her soft voice and accent, “Dahil nandiyan ka na. You’re here, and I won’t ever allow her to hurt us again!”

We laughed, continuing to walk down the sidewalk.

Life was unfair. It had its own ups and downs. Just when you think that everything would be perfect, when everything would go as planned... Bam! Something happens and your world is turned upside down.

So maybe my turning into a girl is a big taboo. Maybe it’s the worst thing that can happen to a fifteen year old boy. But to me... Having met Mirasol now, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

“You haven’t forgotten, right?!”

I paused, my hand stopped waving in midair, and I squinted at the small figure at the end of the street. “Forgotten what?!”

Mirasol placed her hands on her hips and laughed, her voice carrying down the road. “You’re sleeping over at my house on Friday!”

Oh crap. I forgot about that promise I made with her.

“Okay then! Well, see you tomorrow, Riku!”

“Wa – wait...”

I slapped my hand to my head and winced at the pain. ARGH! I forgot about that silly promise I made with her the other week! I thought she was just joking when she told me that one of these days, she’d show me her novel collections...

Gr.

Oh well...

Friday’s still three days away. Time enough for my menses to scram and get outta my way.

A/N: And chapter end! Lots of scene breaks, ne? Sorry about that, I just wanted this chapter to be really really compressed so I don't bore ya all with the small details.

ANYWAY! Check out my comic version of flunk: . YA ALL and you guys have a good time!
