A/N: enjoy!

He Was

He wasn’t like all the other kids

He prayed at night to be different

He was different in his own way

But those feelings would not go away

He was supposed to like girls, or so they said

But the other guys were what he wanted

He didn’t want to feel it anymore

But it wouldn’t leave him, what was it waiting for

The kids at school, they never left him alone

Always throwing painful words in harsh tones

Calling him a queer, a fag, a stupid gay

But he knew he was someone good in a better way

But at night he’d lay in bed and cry himself to sleep

Always wanting to be normal, but it would never leave

He was tired of living a life of sorrow and regret

He was going to tell his best friend the painful secret

So two days from now he’ll walk up to his friend’s door

He’ll be invited in, they’ll play a game, and he’ll beat his highest score

Than he’ll turn to, his greatest friend, and say ‘you need to listen,

Cause what I’m about to tell you, can change us in a instant.”

His friend will look concerned, but will give him his full attention

And the boy will go silent, knowing its now or it never

So opening his mouth, and throwing his hurt away

He’ll whisper in the softest tone, “well…I…I’m gay”

His friend will look away, look out an open window

Then the boy will start to cry, and he’ll get up to go on home

But his friend will turn back, he’ll look a little stunned

Then he’ll lean forward, kiss his friend, and whisper “you aren’t the only one.”

So for now let the boy cry to himself at night

because in two days from now a new chapter will open in his life

the two boys, friends, for all those many years

will hold hands, love each other, wipe away each tear

and the boy will finally realize what he’s known all along

that the love he feels for this boy next to him isn’t wrong

they’ll live their life in each others arms, growing old and into death

both falling away into eternal rest, both taking their last breath
