Beating hearts

Run faster in the wind

The cracking leather streaks the air

White fades to soft red

Warm chocolate melts

With the pouring sweetness

Of the salty brew

A sharp pain

Tears from yesterday dance

A child cries

Unsure of what the moving shadows are

Flooded gates

Rush the warmth

In a fiery explosion

Of long lost passion

But the passion is returning

Or the shadows of it are

But the crying child can’t tell

The angel flies

Flitting from tree to tree

Not knowing

Not knowing where to land

Not knowing which is safe

Which is fun

Which is genuinely loved

And the beating hearts

Run in the wind

Not all scars heal

And time tells not

What lies behind the closed doors
