a/n: Ok, anything bold, italicized, and underlined is for emphasis, as expected, but on top of that, they have meaning. The bold and italicized stuff is sarcasmand the underlined is more of the truth. I was frustrated with life and how everyone kept waiting for it to get better, so yea, it is supposed to be sarcastic ;; R&R what you think, thx!
Reality
With 6 billion people in the world,
it seems unlikely that one should
have a life that is a
fairytale. Everyone dreams of life being perfect,
or perfectly dramatic, with true love
tragic and peaceful death (at the same time),
all while leading a life full of
importance,
but in reality, it won’t happen.
Think about it.
Even if a whole 1 million people
get such a thing as a fairytale, that still leaves
5.999 billion people with
a normal life.
Five point nine nine nine billion people
who won’t ever be someone of note or importance,
who won’t ever be swept off their feet by
Prince Charming,
who won’t ever be a brave victim or
heroic savior.
They will lead perfectly normal,
boring lives, as you will.
In reality, your life will be
trivial and monotonous.
You won’t be a famous singer, writer,
actor, dancer, politician, or president.
You’ll be a teacher who will
touch hundreds of lives each year, but
after many years, those thousands of kids
won’t remember you. You’ll be just
one of the tens of teachers that
touched their lives.
That Prince Charming will only be in
your dreams.
In reality, you won’t be swept off your feet
in a dazzling kiss.
The kiss will be clumsy and sloppy,
decent at best, and you will
end up settling for an
Average Joe who doesn’t quite meet
or satisfy all your expectations.
In reality, the death imagined,
where you save a poor maiden
from a burning building or you bravely fight
cancer as it wrecks havoc
on your poor body,
will only be imagined.
You won’t die peacefully in your sleep,
either, as fantastic as that sounds.
You’ll die a normal death, as that is death,
normal and always next, where you’ll
cry and shiver and pray for life to go on,
even as you have lived a real life, where only friends
and family will know and care enough
to visit your grave and attend
your funeral.
In reality, you will lead
a trivial, monotonous life.
In reality, you won’t be swept off your feet
in a dazzling kiss.
In reality, you won’t die amazingly.
In reality, 5.999 billion people
each year will lead perfectly
boring lives.
And that’s the tough, tragic reality.
