You did it again.

I knew you would.

This charade

This masquerade

Too much.

The faces glitter

Grotesque and disfigured

It’s a maelstrom of color.

I’ve lost my dancing partner.

I’m trapped

Between glittering dresses

And angry drunks

Getting ready

To start.

Get out.

Go

Faster.

I can’t catch up.

My dress

It’s caught

On another man’s lies.

Again, my mask

Leaves me defenseless

Though it glitters

In the midst

Of the masquerade.

Your masquerade.

Pass the wine.

I want to dance

My glittering face

Smiles up

At the chandelier

As it cascades down.

I can’t say I’ll miss you.

Though I do love

To dance.
