Corruption

She colors the clouds with crayons
And she waves her magic wand;
She twirls around in her glitter gown
And her smile turns on the stars.

She lives in a dimpled curtsey world
With forever-flavored fairy tales
And rainbows the color of naivety;
Her eyes shining with sleigh-bell innocence,
Untainted by that pesky heartbreak…

And they hold their breath
For that broken lullaby day when
corruption
Seeps through the holes in her halo
And she realizes that daddy’s
Never. coming. home.
